Indigo Children

Discussion in 'Psychic' started by Lying in a field, Dec 26, 2005.

    • They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it)
    • They have a feeling of "deserving to be here," and are surprised when others don't share that.
    • Self-worth is not a big issue. They often tell the parents "who they are."
    • They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice).
    • They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.
    • They get frustrated with systems that are ritually oriented and don't require creative thought.
    • They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like "system busters" (nonconforming to any system).
    • They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward, feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially.
    • They will not respond to "guilt" discipline ("Wait till your father gets home and finds out what you did").
    • They are not shy in letting you know what they need.
These are the typical attributes of an indigo child. They describe me down to a T. In fact no words have ever described me better in my life. My whole life I have constantly been searching for reasons for why i am so different to everyone else thinking "maybe i'm adopted", "maybe i have a form of autism" or "maybe I have A.D.D" or "perhaps i'm just a child of my generation. I have realised i'm none of these things, just lucky enough to have a creative, rebellious mind. I don't think im an indigo child either. I am very skeptical of this and think it will only contribute to elitist labelling and a bunch of people who have unnecessarily high opinions of themselves.

What does everyone else think of the indigo revolution>

I read about this... It's weird, I know. It describes me and most of the people I associate with. It explains a lot about the way some people should be and the way they really are. It tells a lot about stereotypes.

So a few sentences can describe you down to a T? A bit sad if you let that sort of thing happen IMHO.

That is a vague description of a 'free spirit' with a bit of intellect. When doctors and pop psych writers start making dough off the concept, don't be surprised.

  4. Like a lot of people on here hungry for superiority, I don't think you actually read what I wrote. Anyway, have a nice day.

I read everything you wrote; you set yourself up by opening with "this describes me to a T." I responded to your post with how I felt about that, cause that just sounds ridiculous that ten sentences can describe any human's personality 'to the t.' ALTHOUGH you say you are skeptical, your opening sentence makes you sound like a half inch thick piece of plywood that thinks he is as deep as a two by four.

You asked how people felt about indigo correct? How does my response indicate anything about any of my hungers? It's fun to try and blanket all the sheep under one ass-stained quilt, but methinks you know jack about me or my motives. ;-)

someone has a judging problem if thats what he thinks he is let him think that you have no right to judge

  8. I think my original post was honest and self deprecating. I was pointing out the very human desire to label one's self for the purpose of feeling like some sort of superior being. I was saying i could do what all the indigo children are doing, but i'm too skeptical. I was not inviting people to label me as an indigo child but rather ofter criticism against it.

I used the opening sentence as an example of how easy it is for someone who is a half inch thick piece of plywood to take such nonsense seriously. I hope now you understand. I don't think you know my motives either, so please try and think about what i'm saying less from the point of view that i'm an insuperior idiot.

That was my attempt at being sensible for the first time in a long time.

A judging 'problem' if that's what I think? Sigh..WHAT I THINK ABOUT THE TOPIC IS MY JUDGEMENT, WTF!?! Your response to me is a JUDGEMENT, and lying in the field DOES NOT THINK HE IS AN INDIGO!!! You probably don't even know what my post was about from the looks of your nonsensical mumblings.

    Lying in a field:
I don't take any point of view before a person starts talking, and that was not the point of view I took at any point during our conversation so far. I've had this talk about indigos with people in real life and on message boards. Sorry if the original post offended you, just saying how I feel, and trying to tell you that it's sad when people buy into this trash. There are tons of people you would meet or even yourself that has a piece of them that can be defined by this loose group of characteristics, but not even a person with the littlest of personality can be totally explained in a few sentences. I am predicting eventually if the 'indigo craze' catches on, there will be special schools for them that cost a good amount of money to attend, book deals on how to parent your indigo, etc. etc

  10. It just wasn't necessary man. Of course I know that there are millions of other traits in my personality that can't be described by a few sentences. What do you take me for, a single celled amoeba? There were just some very peculiar things in my personality that I haven't heard described anywhere else, I am incredibly far from taking it for gospel.

Anyway, Happy New Year. Hope you all get a kiss...or even better

All these labels are sooo confusing, although this describes me and only one other person I know.

Ehh I do have some thoughts... I read about them for a couple days once about a year or two ago and thought I fell under the category. Then I started thinking about how vague, and pop psych or pseudo-intellectual some of the statements were. Examples:

They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward, feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially.

^That's like, an incredibly general psych 101 statement right there.
Hey I don't know about you, but when I am around gangsters all the time (this is the 'type' or 'style' of person you would mostly meet in my area) listening to fitty cent and saying 'nigga' all the time, I turn inward. Because I am around a bunch of fucking inbreds who think guns and robberies determine the size of their penis, and that's not my bag of tea. Maybe for you ravers are your type of crowd or 'hippies,' everybody wants to be around people who are like them in some ways.

"They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it)"

^ Last I checked that is called a brat lol. :p

    O this one is awesome:

They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice).

YES MASTER PLEASE COMMAND ME. lol... Really now, who likes authoritative BS without any kind of logic behind it? You have to be really conditioned to respond to tactics like that, IMO.

"They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them. "

So, patience is the virtue that indigos don't have?

I think you probably get the point of my rant. Some of those traits seem sort of like what they call ADD/ADHD, but mostly what I call an intelligent child, hopefully with a bit of personality that can't be generalized by pop psychology.

  16. Yeah, that sounds pretty much the way i see it too.

I read an article in the local paper that said "professional critics of the indigo revolution basically see indigo children as spoilt brats"

all those personality traits describe a wide range of people and it is more interesting to find out why they act like that due to their time on this planet than to give up and label them and indigo child. That label seems like a new brand of people. maybe more people are becoming like this becasue of the overcrowded egotistical world we live in that lacks in any reason.

that list sounds to me more like it describes a brat with ADD.

*no offense intended to the threadstarter

EDIT it seems my sentiments have already been posted, haha.

  19. no offence taken. Thats exactly how i feel
