Anybody heard the term "Indigo Children" before? I think it was a book, but anyway, what it means is to be born *special* like for example I heard hyper-active kids are Indigo, and, people with psychic abilities like mediums, people who have a 6th sense, all that... and I guess the new generation to come is going to be mostly Indigo Children, and there's going to be more and more of them. They're really weird kids, not really in a bad way, but they're definitely different and especially spititually enlightened. My mom thinks I am one, and my sisters too...
It's bullshit. It's just a stupid term that someone made up; the list of criteria for being 'indigo' was huge and general, so that pretty much anyone could identify themselves with it.
I dont think it is Bullshit Penny, here is a good site with alot of reputable info.. http://www.indigochild.com/ My Dr suggested it to me when he told me I had Adhd.. One thesis of The Indigo Children seems to be that many children diagnosed as having attention deficit disorder (ADD) or ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) represent "a new kind of evolution of humanity http://skepdic.com/indigo.html
THe Indigos range from the teens up into the 30's... with the younger ones more "Violet" and the older ones Indigo borderline Blue..
HAHA yeah all the 'ADD' people are special and psychic, that sounds about right. i can just picture someone tapping their pencil hopping around nervously in their seat at school as they begin to read the teachers mind and have visions of the future of their next class. arent the indigo children an idea of edgar cayces, or related to him somehow? i cant really picture him saying ADD children are gifted...
Thanks for all the info Sirjimalot!! It's great.. stranger... you know, not only ADD kids or hyper-active kids are Indigo, and not all of the ADD ones are either, but it's common. And also Indigo children don't ALL have a 6th sense... You should just read that book I read about it, it's just called The Indigo Children, I can't remember the author though.. it's really interesting!
Here's a thread about it,from awhile back...I remembered reading that one, when I saw your thread,Penny...it's interesting,I had never heard of this until I read about it on the forums. http://hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14430
Shamelessly stolen from the 'net: Where I fault the film is the sensationalization of the label "Indigo." The new children have been variously described as Indigos (because of the supposed color of their auras), Star Kids (because of their purported origination from other worlds), Crystal Children (because some say they are highly developed), and so forth -- none of these claims hold up as stated with research, whether via scientific observation or by studying mystical/esoteric traditions or through summarizing visionary revelations. The label "Indigo," plus the others, are now subject to serious challenge. Professionals in the field of child development and education, parents, even the kids themselves, are having problems with the idea that certain character traits are the province of so-called "Indigos," when, in fact, the majority of today's children match those traits -- without evidencing anything like a purple aura, or being a hybrid from another planet, or possessing "god-like" wisdom. Children born since around 1982 really are different, like no other generation of record. If the movie "Indigo" makes this point and no other, it has done the world a favor and hopefully will help to engender an overall transformation in how we regard and teach children. Surely it will inspire a forum whereby the children themselves can speak and be heard... for our youngest citizens truly have something important to say that is worth hearing. Already, though, I'm seeing the opposite, the "bandwagon" approach to sales and marketing. Books extolling what a certain well-regarded psychic had to say about "Indigos," when that individual never said anything of the sort; music just for Indigos; Indigo camps, schools, literature, classes, toys, websites, business logos. The hype is deafening and it's just started. Far too many people, most of them well-meaning, are exploiting the very children we seek to celebrate. Claims that have been proven false are now accepted as gospel by an adoring public un-willing to question or verify. The affect this has on children is unfortunate.
"the affect this has on children is unfortunate" I respect thier opinion... If you want to think we are just attention whores then that is your right... and your position is duely noted. there are millions of us who beileve otherwise... I will just agree to disagree with you on this, rather than argue..
of course I dissagree with it... I do not seek anyone's validation. I think the purpose of this thread was to discuss Indigo children, and culture, why do you feel it so important to attempt to invalidate something that has helped millions of people all over the world? alright then, why do I dissagree with it? Because I do not feel like being around people who understand me is haveing an unfortunate effect on me. it is MY opinion, based on my experience, If being happy and haveing friends is an unfortunate effect, then I welcome it!
but is it not a great way for people to wake up these possibly inherent [in all of us] hidden traits, perhaps the start of an evolution of "psychic powers" or the "sixth-sense". Whatever you want to call it, we've all experienced strange occurances that seem to defy all logic and border on the supernatural, perhaps this is merely a dormant part of us we can wake up. Perhaps, like an unused muscle, we can start off small, and grow it just like any other physical or mental ability. however, i highly agree that it's wrong to try and make money off the whole thing. I can't even begin to imagine justifying that one. i can however imagine many reasons why it would have an unfortunate effect on children especially. the only thing i can think of is it being a test for them, if they truly are different... either way, you should get your morals/ethics and general ideas straight before you try and push them on a child. just my two cents...
O no, not this indigo bullshit again. There was a thread about this a while ago. The whole concept is so stupid. Go to one of the indigo sites and you see a bunch of traits describing them that are so dam vague, the descriptions are just of a child with intellect who has an interesting character. Below is my response to these traits from another post (in quotes are the defining characteristics of indigo children): Every single characteristic listed describes me (save the royalty trash) and almost everybody I hang with. It's plain bullshit, no salt added. *They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it)* Oops, I can't say I identify with this because I come from the land of trash. The only royal blood that flows through me is the royal blood of Irish dogs. *They have a feeling of "deserving to be here," and are surprised when others don't share that.* How can you deserve to be here? Nothing you did warranted the gift of life. Your parents came together and out fell you. That doesn't make any sense, can somebody please explain how I "earned" my life? *They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice).* Well hey, everyone should have difficulty with absolute authority; it lacks logic. Authority figures have to make sense for anybody with half a brain to follow what they say... *They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.* Wtf? That's so horribly vague... I simply won't do certain things either, like shove opiate suppositories up my ass, cut the fingers off of my friend's hand, or eat mustard.. Waiting in line is difficult for lots of people; I know I have no patience. Anybody else lack this virtue? *They get frustrated with systems that are ritually oriented and don't require creative thought.* What? I thought being a robot was fun? Ah, whatever, let's go play follow the leader. *They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like "system busters" (nonconforming to any system).* If a process works more efficiently for you, why the hell would you follow someone else's system? If I see a better way of doing something.. hey I do it that way. Maybe non-indigos like to achieve less than us here indigos... ha ha, I laugh at you non-indigos, fools. *They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward, feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially.* LMFAO! Anyone ever take a 101 in sociology? The person who wrote that statement sure did! *They will not respond to "guilt" discipline ("Wait till your father gets home and finds out what you did").* Because it's an archaic form of discipline that doesn't work too well in general? "They are not shy in letting you know what they need.* I need a beer and a blunt if I'm going to be fed any more bullshit today.
I was going to write out this big response to this but for the most part I agree with 2cesarewild. I think that most people are born with it and are taught to ignore it. The only reason that we are seeing more "gifted" children is because our society is starting to accept the fact that otherworld events and things are possible. My old landlord son was the exact description of an Indigo Kid. Everytime he demanded me to treat him like royalty I told him to go fuck himself.
Indigo children are the giften ones of the present time. They are the potential manipulators of crafting our future to however they see fit. Thus New Age religion becomes more popular lately, etc etc.
This forum is the most un en-lightened group of doubters I have ever had the pleasure of talking to. Ever heard of "googling?" to find some answers - go and find them I am so sick and tired of skeptics. A doctor I know knows about them too. My son is an Indigo and perfectly normal and so alive with no ADHD Not all indigos are ADHD
Dude, I googled it and got those answers. You're so sick of the unenlightened doubters/skeptics, LMAO, right pal. Believe everything you read as truth, and what everyone tells you as truth. That'll get you far in life. "A doctor I know knows about them too!" Awesome, I'm glad. When are they going to start giving diagnoses to 'indigos' and charging money for special education to stimulate their indigo properties etc... Open your eyes. Also, what am I doubting? I'm not doubting that people exist with these characteristics, fuck, like I said I know people who fit the description perfectly, including myself. To say that these are the kind of people that are going to move society forward is just stating the obvious. It takes a person of certain character to do certain things. No need to label them and section them off as 'indigo children.'
This thread should go in the Pure Bull section. Charging money for special education is a great idea. You pay for christian schooling and I sure would have loved to have gone to a indigo school, HAH. What's wrong with labels? The white races love doing it. Or complaining about other people doing it. HAH. I don't happen to call these children indigos, or crystals or rainbows, I call them bodhissatva children. Born spiritual masters with tons of inner knowledge, with many integrated past lives so they expound compassion, forgiveness, joy, and non conditional love unto all. Simple as that. Nothing wrong with giving them an 'extra' name because they are different, their bodies and DNA are created differently within the womb...Many other things make up an indigo than what has been stated by somewhat flighty and non grounded adults...An 'indigo' will intution they are an indigo long before they find out the older ones have coined a name for them. Sometimes, people also like to feel like they belong and are part of a group, just comes with human nature...I wish I had been treated differently as a child, that my spiritual gifts had been honored, and my compassion and open heart not frowned upon, but I have learned my lessons and I understand now, my children and ancestors yet to come will not lead the life I did when I was younger.
