In *bad* need of a new digi cam

Seriously. The camera we have is ancient. The resolution isn't so bad just for web pics, but we can't get any prints of anything. The shutter speed is too damn slow and the battery is flat so it has to be plugged in to use.

Whatever we get has to have a decent optical zoom (at least 3x, preferably more in the neighborhood of 6x+) in order to get good pics of small detail in my glass art. And a high enough resolution to print as good 5x7-8x10's if possible. If it is in good shape and relatively new, a li-ion battery that's rechargeable would be lovely. But something that takes aa or aaa batteries would work, too (and I'll just buy extra rechargeables). I'd prefer something that takes an SD card 'cause we already have one extra, but that's negotiable.

Beyond those requirements, anything else we get would be gravy. We don't have much in the way of cash. You can see pics of my glass and textile art in my gallery and on my website (hummblebee.com) and if someone would be interested in trade or partial cash/trade that would be lovely. Either with stuff you see for sale, or even custom work. I need this, bad!

 

Please please pretty please? I'm just bumping in the hopes that maybe someone will notice and take pity on me...

 

I've been trying to find a new camera for myself to take more professional photography... and they are selling really nice packages on e-bay for fairly cheap. (Comes with tri-pod, battery charger, etc, etc, etc)... They had this one Cannon there with hmm... I think 10x optical and another 5x digital and a good 9 mp for around 300$ give or take... You should check it out. I got meself an Olympus Stylus 300 (3x optical plus I think 4x digital and 3.2 mp) in fair condition of which I need to get rid if I want to buy a new cam... but I doubt you'd want that one... it's probably just as old as yours.

So yeah, I know anyone can just say "check out e-bay"... but I's telling you... good deals, even for budget.

 

lol... Yeah, eBay does have some killer deals. I wish I had $300 (or even $100) to blow on a new camera, but things have been slow and my bills are behind. If I do end up coming up with cash for it somehow, that's where I'll go.

And actually, your 3x optical, 3.2 mp, is much better than what I currently have. My only digital camera right now is part of an old Sharp 8mm camcorder. It's only a 640x480. :lol: But since it's part of a decent camcorder, it has a killer optical zoom. (I think like 16x or something!) And for just taking web pics, it's done it's job. But as I said, I need something with a better shutter speed, a working battery system, and a high enough res. that I could print some shots out.

How soon will you be upgrading? Any interest in trading your old one for glass, so's I can at least have something in-between?

I just gave away a nice sony 2 meg which worked fine in many ways, I repleced it with the new sony 10 mega pix as well as built in cam corder with the 5 gig card I can vid almost 2 hours with zoom and sound, it rocks but was also 5 bills.

I will see if the dudes really gonna use it and if not try to snatch it back.

 

hey man,,, i have an extra digi cam kickin around---nothin too fancy but gets the job done... i used to use it to take pictures of my tats but have since upgraded---i like your dready hats maybe a trade?but its nothing real fancy probly somthing you could get off ebay for like 60$its not here right now but ill get the brand and model next time im home....
