today i camped out in an open field away from civilization. away from concrete, noisy cars, the grid.. anyway, while sitting in the field of grass a few thoughts went through my mind. such as-

imagine we all lived in teepees on the earth
imagine the wildlife population was back to pre industrialized levels
imagine the waters werent polluted, providing free drinking and bathing water for all
imagine we only take what we need

i think the greatest point im trying to make is that when you live with the earth, and not in a cage, you are free

really, is anything that i said seem unreasonable? people have been living off the land for millions of years (assuming you believe in evolution). and there are still indigenous people left in the world that live in communal societies. so spare me your "it will never work" bullshit, because it has worked, and in some areas (areas havn't been raped by industrialization) it continues to work. just because things are the way they are now doesn't mean things can't change.

civilization has evolved too much for us to go back unfortunately.

    Yes it is unreasonable!

For people to abandon their homes, modern technology, and all their possessions they have worked their entire lives for, for them to flock out of the cities into the country and then just take what they need to survive?

Good luck trying to convince them!

It may have worked in the past, but theres a reason why it changed. People are greedy, they want more, and they want an easier life. I am in no way defending modern society, I hate it, I want it to burn, but going back to live in the trees is impossible.

Not without some sort of mass-extermination and a bit of the old forced relocation at least.

You said exactly what I wanted to say....not only that, it would take a feat of organization, the dismantling of culture and society as we know it, the abandonment of technology, widespread panic.

I also think that if the technology is there it should be embraced and guided by people like the OP, people that don't care for exploitation.

Young man, you can achieve a lot with your own life, but you should lower your expectations for society.
