Awww, don't be afraid. I've got twins and it's absolutely fantastic. Hard work, yes, but completely awesome. You can call me crazy, but I'd love to have another set if I could. Then again, you've got your hands quite full so I can understand why you'd be concerned. I've only got three children, so it's not that big of a deal. Anyway, good luck.
Thanks I'm not so sure tho. I have 4 kids and 2 more would be six! Any time you here about somebody having 8 or 10 kids, there is always a set of twins in there..every time. This is why i 'm scared. I looked it up. By the time a woman is to her 4th or 5th kid, she has quadrulped her chance of having twins. Hey, it may be paranoid but I'm scared. I wanna ultrasound but its too early.
If it makes you feel any better, my mother is one of eight, and there are no twins. I know plenty of people with big families and no twins. The people I know with twins or triplets stopped having babies at three or four... LOL
Is there a history of twins in your family? That definitely boosts your chances. My twin uncles' father is different than my dad's, and all of his kids are in pairs. It's crazy. There is still a chance that you can have twins without any twins in the family, but not as much.
I think twins are great, but I would be scared, too. It's a lot of babies. I really admire twin mamas. My step mom has 11 kids in her family, no twins. My cousins came from a family of 5, no twins. I have four (and 6 pregnancies) and no twins. (Whew!) I have a freind with 9 kids, no twins. Yes, age and parity (number of kids had) do increase the chance of FRATERNAL twins, but it isn't written in stone. You are African American, right? You do have a slightly higher chance than a Cau womyn, and a much higher chance than an Asian womyn, but natural twins (no fertility drugs) are not all that common, so I know you are scared. You may not be carrying twins. Congrats on the pregnancy. How are you feeling? From what I know, most mamas with twins have some killer nausea, really early. But that isn't a given, either. Well, you're not related to me, so you've got that going for you. Twins on my mom's side. Twins on my dad's side. My cousins, who are sisters, each had a set of twin girls. Little insomniacs. Don't stress, though. It will be OK. You know it will.
