Yup. Ive been mentally preparing for a few days. When this pack's done I'm not buying (or bumming) any more. I've got 11 left and I'm hoping it lasts till Sunday. I usually smoke a little more than a pack a day and yesturday I only smoked 7 and today I've only smoked 3. Wish me luck! :D

The last time I quit was when I was pregnant and I started up shortly after my son was borm. Ive been trying to get healthier and I dont want my son to remember me as a smoker. Unfortunately I am also quitting smoking weed atm so it's really gonna suck. :/

i'd say i've been in the process of quitting for the last couple years

it's difficult to kick cigarettes

however i smoke only when i drink - which is about ten and i go out for a drink once or twice a week

not quite ideal but better than nothing. i really want to quit both

but as a currently single guy - i find it impossible when all people want to do is go out on the town.

    good luck anyways.

Good for you, you should only smoke pot.

I quit smoking cigarettes around five years ago.. Filthy stuff. I'd mix it with my weed after that, but now even that makes me feel dirty, and it ruins the taste.

I'm quitting, too...well I have to for my health and its starting to interfere with my life since we're all "social misfits" now

I say we start a support group for quitting. God knows its gunna be tough for me!

Ah god, I know itsallgood. I dont get it tho--when I dont smoke I want nothing more than a cig (esp when drinkin) but when I do smoke I feel all dirty and its not as satisfying. Idk, its time tho. Ive been smoking pretty heavily for 6 years, minus the time when I was pregnant. I know I can do it (Im a stubborn summofabitch) but getting over the desire to have one sucks. The feeling of being free of a need is definitely something to look forward to though.

prepare to hallucinate .. you should get a pack and fill it with cinnamon toothpicks. because you'll keep going back to the place you hold your tobacco... Having something to replace it and take place of hand to mouth habits.. A glass of water or juice is also a good replacement. Each time you would go for a smoke, sip on some juice..

Replace the action with a healthy action..

    Good luck. .

While I don’t smoke nor do I show malice towards those who do; a recent poll indicates that 1 out of 4 people look down upon and even despise cigarette smokers

If I had a nickel for each time I heard a smoker say "I'm done after this pack...." I would have enough money to buy probably a dozen cartons of "smokes". Best of luck to you.

You might try sunflower seeds. They seem to work nicely for dippers, but anything to keep you busy with your mouth, ya know.

I don't get it though, cigarettes just don't do that to me. They're nice, but mostly just make me thing of other good times that I've had a cigarette. It's not so much the subtle head change as the things I'm classically conditioned to associate with that change. (friends, alcohol and drugs, relaxation time/being worry free, feeling "cool" with my cancer sticks, cruising around town and underage smoking during high school, etc)

Lol, Frieden, well this is only the 2nd time I've said that...every other time it was "hell no, I love smoking!" And the first time I actually did quit so HA! lol.

Hotwater, that one wasn't hard to figure out. :D

Orison, that's a good idea! I've been chewing cinnamon gum and twirling a pen in my hands to keep myself occupied. Either that or chewing on a straw. It's gonna' suck but I know that you're only physically addicted for the first three days after you stop. After that it's all in the mind ya know?

Thanks for the support guys!

    RooR, that's the problem...I associate EVERYTHING with a cig...food/cig, car/cig, sex/cig, break/cig, J/Cig...

My 50 year old aunt, who is a weak minded, idiotic, and drug addicted was able to kick the habit. I never thought I would live to see the day. If she can do it, I know anybody can but most probably won't.

i smoked for 10 years and the few times i tryed i failed. but thats cos i didnt really wanna quit i just thought i should cos i dont wanna die lol.

BUT then i finaly did it cos i was sick of it. 3 years now cold turkey. NO replacement habits or actions i just did it.

The only true way to quick and have it stick is to just do it cold turkey and not do anything else. dont sip on water when u need a smoke or crank that soljaboi when u nick out. just stop, and keep busy.

    you WILL do it.
