So, I leave on Tuesday for a 10-month long exchange trip to Germany. I'm going to be living in the North, in a small town called Stendal, for the first month. During that first month I have this intensive langauge course. Then, I move to my permanent host family, who lives in....

BERLIN! So I'm going to be living in Kreuzberg, Berlin, which is supposed to be a pretty hip part of town. I can't wait! My host family there is really nice. They found a music high school for me to go to while I'm there!

I'm kind of nervous about feeling homesick while I'm there, but its just something I'm gonna haveta deal with. I think overall though, that it'll be a cool, life-changing time.

And I'm posting this thread because I'm thinking about being away in Germany way too much, and its getting annoying, so I'm just sitting somewhere to write it down.

    Um, yeah.

    Cheers and Love,
    Dylan

I lived in Germany for three years, went to an Oberschule in Augsburg, Bayern (Bavaria for the gringos). Lived in a little village called Leipheim along the Donau river, home of 300 cows, 238 pigs, 96 chickens and a rat named Rolf. Loved it!! Germany is a fantastic place to visit for a teenager. You won't have time to get homesick. Man, there is sooooo much stuff to do there, and the Germans are fun lovin' people. Viel spaB! I would give my left nut to be in your place. Don't worry about it, home will always be there. Enjoy the time and place where you're at. That's what the folks back home will be wanting you to do, so hey, look forward to some interesting times. Berlin is way cool. Last time I was there the wall was still up. Looking over to the East side was like looking into another world. Those poor people lived in a literal prison of their own country: bleak and devoid of life. Since the unification the travel ops are better, so take advantage of EVERYTHING. Have fun, be a good representative of US and have a sprudle on me! Ciao!
