i started a new job less than two weeks ago ( but am experienced) and the guy who got me the job warned me that my new boss would try to belittle my work in an attempt to make it seem like i dont deserve to be paid as much as id like to be and will eventually demand...so today we were in a position where i could clearly show how well and fast i can work and i stepped up as usual and knocked off my area with ease and he still came up and said i was "going to slow and it wasnt good enough"...so i was like "man my work is perfect wtf are you talking about???" and he was like "well you could go a bit faster"...i dont really take criticism well especially if i know its unwarranted so i challeneged him to a race lol and i whooped his ass!!! he has been doing what we do for fifteen years and I one so the victory was a sweet one...now to truly appreciate the situation i should mention this man does not not stop talking EVER from the minute he picks me up in the morning to the minute he drops me off and i ignore him the entire time but it doesnt help he will talk on and on and on and if by chance he cant think of anything to say he will simply repeat what other people are saying almost simultaneously as they are talking just so he can feel involved...so the brief moment of silence i earned myslelf through his humiliation was nothing less than BLISS i cant wait to eventually quit this job just so i can tell him that NOBODY cares about what he has to say lol cuz its true everyone talks shit about him and im gonna be the one to burst his bubble!!! granted i see the irony in that nobody is going to care about what im saying either but im cool with that...it really felt good three cheers to puting bosses in their place!!!!!
authority does funny things to people, or maybe people are just strange. reminds me of this Bukowski story where everyday his boss would tell him that he'd fucked his (his own, not Bukowski's) wife the night before. "Go put those crates over there. I fucked my wife last night."
I have met dozens of grandpas that take themselves way too seriously. They are no big deal, have no actual influence over the world (which explains their desperate behavior) and you getting the one up on them is about as big an achievement as expelling a crap from your bottom.
