I dont mean to be a sour puss, but Deers are not in season in NH, this time of the year. Are you hunting on private lands. Spring Gobbler might be coming in though.

yeah, i call BULLSHIT. i though maybe a canned hunt, but having never done one, i couldn't say. they've already dropped their antlers, it'd be lame to poach for a wall mount. so maybe he's utterly in poverty and looking for some meat for the table instead. i don't mind people poaching for meat if they're hungry. i've considered it a time or two. but a 12 GAUGE? what a waste.
