they seriously do my fucking head in. never been so proud of being working class (if that term is still aplicable to contemporary times) i feel like slapping someone really hard. but then my hippie heart wants to smoke a joint.
i'm with you with being proud of being working class i just try not to let others bother me much anymore...i just ignore them now
This has nothing to do with the topic but is "doing my head in" a very British saying? Coz I hadn't heard it before I moved to England but now I hear it aaalll the time.
yeah that's true. If one day I start earning money i know i wont be a snob cos i know where my roots are but then, what makes people snobs? I cant stand these peeps I know, they hang around in their own little group and completely ignore the rest, like we had herpes or something. they completely see right through us!! i bet they think we're less clever that they are cos we're not in a fancy uni like theirs.
it's the way they're brought up...they may have rick bank accounts but they have poor souls. One saying I hate is 'white trash' I can't stand it when people use that phrase it's both classist and racist and shows somone's true views on society and their beliefs that some are better then others. It's like I tell my kids at work- you're unique but you're not more special then any kid here nor is any kid here more special then you you're all the same. Some parents get upset at me for that because they're snobby but I tell them they can take their buisness elsewhere then.
i've been around snobs of every class. no matter what social stratum you belong to, you've got a reason you feel superior to people of other strata. either because you've rejected materialism, embraced it entirely, know more about cars, boats or trains. whatever. people attract others who match them for some reason. it's just how we are. the world is too confusing to worry about who DOESN"T like you or have anything in common with you. better to worry about the ones who do.
