Illegal Street Racing-Does This Make You Feel Bad?

I will go on record saying I hate street racing and I think its extremely dangerous. I don't like people dying, of course





ACCOKEEK, Md. - A car plowed into a crowd that had gathered to watch a drag race on a suburban road early Saturday, killing eight people and injuring at least five, police said.

Police said the white sedan was not involved in the street race but accidentally drove into the crowd of about 50 people that had spilled onto the highway to watch two racing cars speed off.

"There were just bodies everywhere; it was horrible," said Crystal Gaines, 27, whose father was among the dead.


Gaines said she grabbed her child but could not help her father, William Gaines Sr., 61.

"He wasn't breathing, he wasn't moving," she said. "His body was in pieces."

Gaines said the car did not have its lights on, but police could not confirm that.

The white sedan hit people standing on the side of Route 210 around 3:40 a.m., Prince George's County Police Cpl. Clinton Copeland said. A tractor-trailer that came by shortly afterward may also have struck someone on the road as it tried to avoid the crash, he said.

"It's probably one of the worst scenes I've seen," Copeland said. "This is a situation that could have been avoided, and it's a very tragic situation."

The victims ranged in age from their 20s to 60s, police said. Seven people were pronounced dead at the scene, and an eighth died later at a hospital.

It kind of makes me mad that they would engage in such a dangerous activity. I cannot stand people who drive dangerously

 

because humans are so fucking dumb... if there was illegal strett racing on my street, (there never will be due to speed bumps) i'd be in the house!

i'm nervous enough riding my bicycle next to normal traffic.. why the hell would i wanna stand close to the street with a car driven by someone that only sees the finish line? no thanks.

Indian Head Highway is a 40 mile, 4 lane death strip.

They have a better race on Berry Road or one of the back roads in Bryans Road. BUt no, they have to be big bad-ass redneck kids. I'mnt saying they got what they deserved, but when you fuck around with alcohol and hot rods, bad shit happens.

 

Street racing good in my book, but not with crowds watching, just on a silent, empty high-way, when your passenger makes eye contact with a guy, smirking, and then the passenger tells you to stop, so both cars stop, and you just see the other car's passenger shout "Three, two, one!" and you're out of sight within a minute.

It's alright if its in the appropriate setting. Not down the fucking highway strip were it leaves other people in danger. One of my friends was into the drag racing thing back in high school, he lost control and ended up killing one girl and burning the other one from the explosion of the girls car. Right down the middle of town. He's paying for it now in a 6x9.

 

This is somewhat of a good story.

Idiots involved in street-racing died. Good for them, good for the world.

There is one street here in town, where a bunch of kids always play... and these idiots in modified cars go down it as fast as shit once in a while.

 

It wastes energy. makes noise, and polution.

i knew a buncha guys who'd street race out on the res. long stretches of road with no one on it. that didn't bother me much.
