What kind of music would you play??? I'm addicted to music lately... I'd love to be in a Ska band as a singer...I think that'd be a blast.
Probably something very experimental. With some folk rock undertones, possibly... I like my acoustic.
I thought I’d like to go Rock n’ Roll but the call of the lyrical and acoustic sound of ‘Soft Rock’/Folk is probably something that I could get my teeth into more. Maybe when you get older with more stories to tell it’s a way of passing down life experiences to a younger generation. Getting back to one’s roots, a calmer reflection on what has been, of the days gone of innocence, of a time when you could leave your door open and… “The Summer was warmer, the Winters were Snowy” and everything in the World was a lot more rosy - - - - Oh my God, I’m my Parents! No forget it I’m back to Rock'n'Roll - the symbol of Youth!! < Peace + Love ~ Save the Planet >
I've been in a few bands, mostly jazz and swing bands. I write music but it's not anything special. Sounds similar to 60s and 70s pop tunes. I like Latin rhythms too. .
I make some music now and then usually its ambient stuff. synth and (virtual) piano is all i can do. I know absolutely nothing about musical theory and can't play a real instrument to save my life, so anything I make is pretty experimental to say the least
the kind of ambient alternative that i like to listen to. melodic sequences of strainge sounds that create in the minds eye gratifying natural alien environments. not rythum driven at all, but not manditorally exclusive of it either. the kind of tecno-ambient that blurs the 'lines' between genres. especial between symphonic and popular, but also between those and modern jazz fussion and other spacier things. definately space music, but with the scent of pine needles and the stirrings of little furry creatures rustling the leaves beneath the shrubery in the alien wilderness and the glowing fungoids in labrynthine alien caves. =^^= .../\...
yes questions like that should definately be multiple. most bands these days, or at least the ones i listen to on alternative radio and elsewhere, play multiples and combinations of genre's. i don't listen to clear chanel so i can't speak for the dominant culture, but it seems like any more, no one makes it playing just one style of music. some have heavy emphasis of focus in one particular area, like reggeh or zydico or something, but even those that do, it seams broaden their horizens and cover more then one bases. =^^= .../\...
Well...I do write music. Minimalist singer/songwriter stuff. Mostly lyrically driven with simple music. All acoustic, because I don't own an electric guitar. Verses and choruses with bridges in some songs. Simple is the key word. Like John Lee Hooker said, "I don't play fancy guitar, and I don't want to." Very influenced by Cat Power, Smog, Elliott Smith, The Mountain Goats, The Flaming Lips' work in the 80s, Lou Reed, Daniel Johnston, Nick Drake...innumerable influences, really, but you get the idea. And at the moment, I'm in the process of getting a band together with the intent to play around town and hopefully be taken somewhere by it.
every band ive been in with we've created like our own type of sound. rock/blues/psychedelic melodies, which has already been done but we did it differently.
i'm already in a band. i love classic rock, but our sound is more folk/indie/acoustic. check it out! http://www.myspace.com/teamleary
