the problem with so many nations taking the stance of "offense is the best defense" is mostly that you have to attack something the other nation cares about. if the leadership doesn't care about the death of their soldiers, which they don't, they'll just keep throwing them in to sacrifice. and that is an unacceptable paradigm.

 

The soldiers know there is a chance of death, but they take the chance anyway. (And most of them want to kill)

People have an unhealthy addiction to gambling sometimes. These people are gambling with their lives, hoping they come back for that measly amount of help the government has promised them for their pawn movement.

 

I know quite a few "men" in the military who are perfectly complacent with dying for the cause....

the thing is, military's are organized into slave gangs. a soldier IS a slave, and they talk about unit cohesion and all this shit, but you don't need to surrender yourself to be a warrior. you do to be a soldier, and soldiers and warriors are totally different ideas, just as healer and doctor are divergent concepts that sometime intersect.

Soldiers need to care about themselves personally, and they need to be cared about by their superiors. in the u.s. right now, the brass is FILLED with people who only give a shit about personal advancement
