this is true when it comes to most drugs. for this thread i would like to talk about peoples experience when it comes to LSD. those of you who use LSD regularily and have been for some time will understand what i am talking about because you will have experienced something very similar in your life. i have been using LSD very regularly for the last 10+ years. i have had many powerful trips, some bad - most good. overall i love what LSD has done for who i am. what troubles me over and over again is how my lifestyle effects my social and family life. a common side effect of using large amounts of LSD is that one tends to be more honest in life. naturally, most of my friends(if i can call them friends) know that i use LSD and how much i love it. the friends of mine that are like me in that they respect LSD and use it often are good friends. the ones who dont use LSD dont use it for a reason. this is all fine until you realize the natural outcome for this type of situation. we as people naturally want what is best for one another especially when it comes to friends and family. whatever a persons reasons for not doing drugs like LSD are become the same reasons for them to make it their obligation to either talk you out of using such drugs or try to convince all your mutual friends that you must be crazy. i am in the process of putting a band together. at least i am trying to anyways. for obvious reasons i would like to play music with people who i can be good friends with - starting a band is like starting a family, i dont want to play music with people who do not like who i am. so i am looking for musicians who are like me in that they love LSD. if finding good musicians wasnt hard enough as it is, i have to go and make it more difficult. i know that if the person is not into LSD that they will never work out. they will try to convince me to stop using it and i will try to convince them that they should try it. at this point in my life this not only effects my future band members it also effects who i am friends with. if you dont like LSD then you will never be a good friend of mine(unless of course you are open to trying). if you try and talk me out of using LSD i will very quickly cast you out of my life. obviously i do not tell people i work with about my drug use so that i dont cause any problems at work (i have made the mistake of being too honest and friendly with co-workers in the past). for those of you who love LSD but are just getting into it - be warned... up ahead may not be as smooth sailing as you would like. - be prepared to loose a few friends and cause distance and/or friction with family members. maybe it would be best to keep your LSD use a secret from family and co-workers. because of what many people think of LSD your life could suffer greatly depending on what circles you normally associate with. be careful as you may be able to keep it a secret for a long time but all it takes is one stupid girlfriend (or boyfriend) to open their big mouth and your screwed. not everyone thinks very kindly of acid heads and you might not be ready to loose most of your friends. if all your friends are tripping too you should be ok.- the reason i say that you should be ok is that you never know when one of your friends is going to freak out and have a bad trip - after that they will think that you must be crazy for doing a drug that fucked them up so bad. my brother and i used to trip together, then one day he had a bad trip and decided to stop using it. he feared that if he kept using it that he would go crazy - i kept using it so he is sure that i must be crazy (he does not give me enough time to see otherwise)... he also started hanging around some people who believe that LSD is a drug that gets you high and produces hallucinations and that is all, they dont believe it to be a drug that opens you up to experience an enlightened state of being like i do. they say that LSD does not lead one to "true enlightenment" - apparently i am in denial, i am not really a good person walking a path of enlightenment at all - i am a person getting high on drugs imagining a light that is not really there, or at least i can not reach or see it because i have gone a fucked up my perception of reality by using LSD. needless to say my brother and i are no longer close – in fact we dont talk anymore. if he is right then i must stop using LSD - if i am right then he should start using it again. despite having lost many many friends and even family members along the way i would not change a thing. i like who i am and i realize that it doesnt really matter if most people think i am crazy because i know that all it boils down to is that they are ignorant and afraid. in time, through my music i hope to show everyone that not only am i not crazy but i am an incredibly talented and enlightened musician who has a lot of great things to say and give to the world. i really do believe that i will make it big with my music - my brother and family would call that a delusion of grandeur, i call it a dream. i am looking for people to share similar experiences and how they dealt with them. together we have to work towards improving how people view drugs such as LSD. if LSD was more respected the world would be a much better place. LSD may not be for everyone and if it is not for you should at least try to understand why it may be a very wise choice for someone else. the problem is that in a lot of cases it takes a drug like LSD to open up someones mind - i am asking someone who does not want to open their mind to open their mind. what do you think?
dood...people have their reasons...let them be...just cause they dont do acid doesnt mean that they hate you for using it...i have tons of freinds who dont do acid and know that i take and love it...they RESPECT my opinions and i RESPECT theirs. you cant take this black and white shit to far. or at least thats what i think. cause if you do then they are like you said, with you or against you...but perhaps if you really think about it, you are being a little harsh on all the people who might like to be freinds with you who dont take acid...if people have to try acid to be your friend...then thats not really being a friend. acid doesnt make freinds. although it can. and i dont think that all your band members should have to take acid. those are just my observations though.
im with freekoutmcgee. be friends with people that RESPECT you. that it doesnt matter to them if you take acid or not. just because they havnt done it, you shouldnt push them away.
did i confuse you? i am sure the people who actually respect LSD for what it is use it themselves. if there are people out there who respect LSD and those who use it without doing it themselves then i have yet to meet them. in my experience it doesnt happen that way - you shouldnt hold that against me. if people truly respected LSD for what it was then they to would be using it as well, wouldnt they? if it is not right for them then why would it be right for you? and just because i dont want to be close friends with people who are not likeminded does not mean that i am not a good person to them. i am friendly and interact when i am around them but i would only call them an acquaintance and not a good friend. i dont think that there is anything wrong with wanting to be good friends with people who enjoy a similar lifestyle. but then again i am the kind of person who believes a few good friends is better than many friends. birds of a feather flock together. the same reason pot heads hang out together. honestly i think if you guys were able to hear what your so called friends who dont do acid actually think of you that you would be surprised. if they thought that you were having a great time or that LSD was doing great things for you, wouldnt they be doing it themselves??? if your best friend saw that you were having a great time wouldnt they want to join you? if your best friend refuses to join you in whatever you are doing they must think that it is either unsafe or wrong for them to do so. if they think that it is wrong or unsafe for themselves then most likely they will imagine that it is the same for you. when it comes to acquaintances or friends that are not so close it is harder to tell what they are thinking. on the surface it may appear that they are ok with your LSD use as they dont express any concern. odds are if this person was to get closer to you a conflict or changing of minds must occur. if they are not going to try it themselves they are probably going to try to suggest that you should be giving it up. as i sit here wondering why no one has anything to add to this thread or why no one can find any concrete argument against it i realize what the problem is. this forum is full of inexperienced people looking for answers to stupid questions that they should have found the answers to on erowid. i know there are some intelligent points to be made as i have read many on this forum before - maybe i have to check back later. anything you have to add would be fine - if you have an experience where the person does not use LSD yet they still totally respect the drug and you for using it could you please go into detail and elaborate so that others may have an easier time understanding. try to answer this question - if someone truly respects LSD and the people who use it, why dont they use it themselves?
if people truly respected LSD for what it was then they to would be using it as well, wouldnt they? this is ignorance. black and white. yes lsd is great, and i figured that one out on my OWN.......i didnt have some guy say hey, do this and i'll be your best friend. the people who dont do it cause they havent tried it are pulled down by all the fucking propoganda in the media and in their own minds. just let them be and it will come around to them...it always does.
ALL YOU CRAZY ACID HEADS ARE ROTTING YOUR BRAINS!!!! ACID MAKES YOUR SPINE BLEED AND IF YOU DO lT MORE THAN 7 TIMES YOU'RE LEGALLY CRAZY!!!!!! WHY ARE YOU LETTING SATAN INTO YOUR LIVES THROUGH THIS AWFUL DRUGS!? GOD BLESS EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU
Well, a bleeding spine and being insane produces some cool and enlightening effects. That's probably why I do it. Why do you feel the need to try to run someone else's life? Did you get robbed by a hippie?
Hippies dont rob! I tend to agree with 3xi, anyone who is willing to accept acid, but won't take it simply doesn't make sence. It makes it hard to be in many situations because your "mental planes" are in two totally different places. Too bad we cant collaborate on the band 3xi, I live in alabama! myspace.com/herberia
somone who has taken as much acid as you, Would appear "crazy" to the "norm". doesnt mean you are crazy, but just the way these people see you. but if everyone was like they had taken acid for 10 years, than everyone wouold be normal to each other. its just that.
I was trying to be funny. I was stoned for the first time in like 2 weeks and it didn't come out right.
You can respect it's power without realizing it's beauty, if that makes since. Some people just aren't the tripping type, and if they don't want to use LSD, then they shouldn't, which is an indirect way of showing it the respect it deserves, by not wasting it on themselves.
i understand what you mean tho. at least in a way. the way i understand it, is that, once youve done as much acid as you, you find it difficult to be goood friends with people who havent taken acid, because you know their minds are waaayyy back somwhere else, but you like people whove done acid more, cause you can relate to them sooo much more, and it gives a comfort cause they have a peice of understanding that the non-acid users dont have. id have to agree in a way.
we are all human beings on planet earth, me taking a drug should have to be the defining line between friend and foe. for me at least.
why do you think this qualifies you as some sort of expert? you have little to no experience. after you see what LSD does to your life over years of use or years after use you may have a better understanding.
I am actually really hurt and gutted to know you exist. I too believe that LSD is an elightening drug, I adore it, it is magnificent. If society was fair and progressive then people would not be criminalised for using it or producing or supplying it. However, you're attitude is quite frankly disturbing. Its like a fanatic of any religion. You're way seems like the only valid one. People who don't choose to do LSD are also potentially great and wonderfuilly amazing people. just like many acid heads can either be dickheads (Charles Manson anyone?) or some of them can go loopy not havign teh ability for whatever reason to work through or break through to enlighternment. This does not make them inferior it just makes them have different abilities and strengths and weaknesses. People believe all sorts of things are teh answer to enlightenment. but I am a firm believer that enlightenment or spitituality (not teh same thing btw) can be foudn anywhere. in arts, science, daily rituals, meditation or in mundane chores. Although we are all extremely similar we are essentially different. obviously you hodl yoru life experiences sbove anyone elses but you dont actually realise trhat otehr peopel do so theirs and do so with validity. Your borther may NEVER find enlightenment through LSD and maybe he knows thsi so essentially and understands it that he too cannot see past his own nose. Just as you cannot see past yours. Maybe genetically you both share some weakness in that? People are individuals and hence since LSD is always largely a reflection of teh individual who takes it they will react differently to it. There are Yogis who live in nothing but a loin cloth in teh mountains of India and have done so with contentment, and amazing strngth of body and mind. WHO on earth are you to say that they have not reached enlightenment if they (and I know many would) were to say that LSD is not for them? HOw can a drug that was invented only in teh last century be the only asnwer to enlightenment? I'm so confused as to how you can't see beyond yoruself. PLease explain and discuss further! I have to go now but will return! Oh and PS I'm a year younger than you and have been doing LSD for half of my life.
i most definitely agree that some people should not use LSD. but i think it would be very difficult for the person who doesnt think that LSD is right for them to imagine it being right for anyone. i think that whether or not someone should do acid comes down to a willingness to try it alone. there are many different reasons one might steer clear of LSD. what i am trying to say is that because of human nature and the natural ignorance due to the lack of experience, people who dont use LSD do not respect it or the people who use it. then there are the people who have tried it, maybe even a number of times then they stopped using it for some reason. the same thing applies here - whatever their reasons for stopping become their reasons for helping you come to the same conclusion if only to justify their own actions.
not really. please dont get me wrong - i have nothing against people who dont use LSD. they are people with a consciousness just like me. they are living out their life and their own lessons in their own way. when i dont tell people that i use LSD (ie- co workers) we get along fine. it is not that they are any less a person. it is just that with LSD i feel that people speed up the natural process of enlightenment. they are just a different kind of person walking a different path. i respect them for who they are but i can not walk with them as i am walking a different path. i respect that their path will eventually take them to where they belong. the problem is that most people who do not use LSD think that those who do are not doing anything beneficial and in that are not able to respect their choices.
I don't believe you have to do acid for years for it to greatly change your perspective on life, basically cause I've been doing it for one, and I've had enough experiences to know what acid is like to where I could give a shit less if I do it again.
you quote my question then fail to answer it! all you do is go on to try and insult me in some way. i never said that LSD was the only answer to enlightenment! i am only making an observation based on my lifes experiences. you are close to the same age as i am and you have been tripping for just as long. this makes you a very good person for me to listen to. actually the reason why i posted this thread in the first place was to see if i could gain some broader outlook by reading about other peoples experience. i am not happy that the world is the way it is and would love to hear of even one story that disproves my theory. the only situation that i can see where someone doesnt use LSD but respects it and those who use it would be with an older man who has been using acid all his life and then puts it down for reasons of his own. this would be a very rare situation. the old man would have a good understanding of what LSD is and would respect it even though he no longer uses it. please if you can actually address the topic by answering the question i would be very interested in reading it. this is not me being unreasonable or disrespectful. it is me making an observation. trust me i wish my brother could understand why he is wrong to disrespect me. dont shoot the messenger. the fact remains that we dont live in a very open minded time. i make a very good observation and i am not closed off to the idea that we can all somehow learn to get along and be friends. i love my brother and want nothing more then to have a good working relationship with him. i am not being stubborn here. but if he can not learn to respect me and my ways there will always be something between us. i am not going to stop using LSD so that he can respect me (not like that would work anyways because he would just think that there must be permanent damage from the years of use)... it is up to him... not me. i am not the bad guy here. i am just a good guy who decided to try acid. years later i still use it often and love it. and because of this i am disrespected and un-accepted. i am the victim. to make sure i make my point clear - i do not have anything against those who choose not to try LSD. i just dont see anyway for those who dont respect and use it themselves to ever respect those who use it. and like i said before - this is only how i see it thanx to my own experience. if someone can offer a different perspective that says different then by all means speak up. although i am not exactly sure how, i plan on changing the way people view drugs such as LSD through my music. and that doesnt mean that i want the whole world to trip on acid although i would be happy if many did!
