Back home, there have been some winters where we have been snowed in for days, if you dared go out, you'd most probably get stuck and you can be sure shops would be empty of stock. So yeah, I been well prepared for anything. We have tinned soup and stuff...
I'm really freaked out. I am eating tinned soup right this second, and then I read your post. Ok there are probably weirder things but I will not lie, I took a look out of my window.
food wise. sure if we did not loose hydro heating wise. sure if we did not loose hydro water wise, sure if we did not loose hydro (on a well, no power, no pump) and the list goes on....... UMMMM..no one basically would be.
thats not true at all, there are many self sustaining families/farms out there who could make do just as well without and would prefer to do so. that being said, thats a very small percentage of the population, another very small percentage of the population I imagine has stockpiles of the sort and will be somewhat prepared. The majority of the population as you so aptly pointed out would indeed not be prepared or even have the slightest clue what to do. anyhow, just crossed my mind as i heard a talk radio show discussing the possibility of an entire grid failure...and wondered how many people would actually be prepared.
I have all the things in place I can have including a generator in case of failure of power. The larger issue is that even those who are self sustaining or believe they are are not going to be alright if something of any magnitude happens. As self sustaining as you are you need water and air. That is something that is not going to just be fine by the time you run out your stock pile. Not to be a doomsday-er..but reality is just that. Large scale disaster....we are not coming through it. On a brighter note.....today is a great day!
i think it depends on what exactly prompts the large scale disaster(man madde? forces of nature? aliens? lol who knows right?) that will determine the length and quality in which we survive, but essentially in the end, yes we're all fucked- today is fabulous day
I hear you. We always fear the man made disaster but as of late good old mother nature has shown just what a little bitch she can be. Areas that have been hit with mother nature are not doing so well and no amount of assistance from the world is saving those dying................ Hell, think I need a drink after this. Bottoms up and here's to a sunny peaceful ummmmmmm 50 or so decades!
