people should be allowed to be barefoot wherever, but i totally disagree with people who go into stores barefoot and shop, and store policy is to have shoes on. i HATE when peopel make a fuss about it. wtf? the rule is wear shoes, so fucking wear shoes. take em off when you leave. its their space, their store, their rules. its not fair but its life

Wal-Mart operates grocery, food service, optical, and pharmacy services in their stores. Health code requires that patrons wear shoes. As nasty as all Wal-Marts are, why would you want to step foot in there barefoot?
Another reason stores require you to wear shoes, their liability insurance requires them to do so. I do think that is unfortunate. In my opinion, if you go into a store barefoot, and cut your foot on, say, broken glass, it is YOUR fault, not the stores. However, our legal system disagree's with me. We no longer need to have a sense of personal responsibility, everyone else is expected to protect us from our own stupidity. Loss of personal liberties & rights is what the result is.

Health codes don't require shit when it comes to shoes. That's just a myth. Store policy might not allow it, but it's by no means illegal or anything like that.

If you go into a store barefoot, you should take responsiblity for whatever happens. If I cut my foot somewhere and I was barefoot, I wouldn't sue becuase it was my fault. Some folks might not be as cool as me (;)), but they fucking should be!

In Virginia, health code DOES require it.

    I stand corrected!
    Thanks for the info...

Is it still the same with health facilities(ie pharmacy, optician, etc)?

It's like the "HOT" on the side of your coffee. You don't care you know the coffee is hot. Its to protect the corporation from getting sued. If you cut yourself and got an infection a good lawyer could get you a settlement.

I'm sure this is true for some places, not all.

well going into walmart might not be the smartest thing to do.. but i have nothing against it.. i do also think if a person cuts or injures their feet its their own fault though.. but if you have to pee you have to pee. ... i went into a hotel for the night barefoot once cuz it was a surprise to me and i was in my cow pajama pants too.. my fiance from germany came to america for our wedding but had not officially proposed and i thought that i was going with him just to wait in the car as he took the bathroom bag that his best man had "forgotten" at our house into him at the hotel.. anyway, he made me come in to the hotel and since i hadnt seen him for so long i gave in though i felt really silly.. we went to the room i opened the door and it was decked out with candles and romantic music and a tub filled with pretty bubble bath with heart candles all around .. i turned around to say i thought we had the wrong room and he dropped to his knees and proposed he was all shaky and teary eyed i mean we had already decided to marry.. that was what he was there for but i didnt know he had gotten me an engagement ring and that was his first chance for an official and special popping of the question. it was so romantic.. i know that is a totally different subject but .. i was barefoot in a hotel when my husband proposed to me. hehehehehe aww i feel all mushy now.

The last time I was at that place, over a year ago, it felt like my head was going to explode. To much bad energy there.

You know, how it says "Warning, coffee is HOT" on the side of the cup, because people are fucking idiots and sue places like McDonalds when they are clumsy assholes and burn their crotch, claiming they didn't know their coffee was hot.

I don't ever shop at Wal-Mart. Since they have come into our town we have lost many smaller stores. I'm glad everyone wants lower prices, but don't bitch when you get lower quality service.
