I wanna say something.....

I wanna get this off of my chest, I guess because everytime I try and have this conversation I am labeled homophobic.

I have an open mind about everything, even when it comes to things that I am completely against. I do think homosexuality is wrong, but I have no right to judge anyone just as I wish people would stop judging me. Whenever I express my views on this subject people call me homophobic, and I don't understand why. I am not afraid of gay people, I just don't understand their choices. I disagree with A LOT of peoples lifestyles, but that doesn't make me afraid of them. I guess the problem lies with the fact that there are too many anit-gay rednecks (sheep if you will) that don't have a reason why they hate gays, only the fact that the bible tells them so. I have my beliefs not necessarily because of the bible, but because of nature. You don't see same sex relations in the "animal" kingdom. There are no gay dogs, cows, dolphins, etc.

If you get anything out of this post, let it be that not everyone that is against homosexuality are herd following red necks. Everytime I've tried to tell a gay person this they shut me out and call me a homophobic closed minded bastard. Or something of the sort. I just want to share my point of view to people that might actually listen to me.

I think the reason you get shut down is when you state that you are down on gays....why do you need to say anything like that at all.......I dont agree with a lot of things...but I keep my opinions to myself.

i take it u're straight, well imagine someone went and told u "hey i think being striaght is wrong", how would u take it? its not like its the most pleasant thing to hear

 

See that is just it....If someone came to me and said that they were agaisnt heterosexuality, I would ask them, "why?" "what makes you think such a thing?"

I would listen to what they've got to say, and even though it wouldn't ever change my orientation.....I might learn something by listening to another prespective.

In life I think that there is no reality, only perspective. Everyone on this planet has their own perspective, therefore their own reality. The way I look at it, the only way to gain knowlege or wisdom is to listen to other peoples prespectives and try to learn from it reguardless of your stance on the subject at hand. I am not "down" on gays at all. I just have a different perspective. Why can't you see that with an open mind? It seems to me that you should be able to have a open minded conversation with someone who is "against" your lifestyle and maybe talk them into having an open mind. You can't do that when you keep your opinions to yourself. Does anyone hear this?

 

and further more if I get one person who says that they are upset by this thread it goes, what make syou so important that we have to listen to your negative take on this?
I think coming into a forum and telling people that their life style is wrong is rude to say the least.
there are a lot of things I disgree with that are acceptable to others but I wouldn't go into a forum dedicated to one of them and start preaching.
and if you say something that causes offense and upset to people don't think that by putting 'peace and love' at the end of it makes it any less offensive

if someone isn't causing any harm to others there is no need for them to hear why someone else things their life style is wrong.
I don't want to know why you don't like my sexual orientation, same as I don't want to talk about yours.
and you are homophobic, homophobia is saying that homosexuality is wrong, you don't have to be aggressive about it

Letlovintakehold...I do listen...I have 3 straight children..and their father is straight , and I allow them their opinion , but they are supportive of mine also...thats the difference . They dont say being gay is WRONG...they say its just a different lifestyle than what they choose.....YOu tell poeple that what they are is WRONG !!!

 

I am not preaching, or trying to get anyone to change the way they think, what they believe or how they do things. Never once did I say anything about wanting to change anyones beliefs, I just wanted people to listen to me without judging me. I simply wanted to have an intelligent conversation with some good people. Of all places I thought that I could accomplish that here, but I guess I was wrong. Are guys not judging me right now? Because thats what it feels like. It feels like you are judging me because of my beliefs that I cannot change. Is there any way to delete this thread? because this is going NOWHERE near the direction I though/hoped it would. Instead I'm getting a negative reputation from everyone reading this that I don't deserve

I apologize if I came off judgemental in any way, thats not what I wanted to do. Like I said in the origional post "I don't have the right to judge anyone." I just wanted to try and learn something, forgive me.

 

Did you honestly think that Gays would agree with your beliefs that we are wrong in who we are ???? If we told you that straight people are wrong...would you agree with us ?
And now that we challenge what you came here and said , you want to bail and say that we treated you unfair and that we were judging you harshly......

 

If everyone would just pratice TOLERANCE the world would be a nicer place, wouldn't it? *sigh*

 

I NEVER implied in ANY way that I wanted ANYONE to agree with my beliefs. I don't know where you could have gotten that. Just like you can't change your beliefs, I cannot change my own. Can't we learn from eachother instead of critizising?

I don't want to bail, but it does seem that no one is listening to me. TARABELLE is the only one here that instead of bashing me, listened to me and came back with a peaceful response. The only reason I'm really not liking this thread is because I'm getting a lot of bad energy and heat instead of thoughts of love that I would expect from "hippies"

Though I can't understand gays.......I try. I came here with an open mind and I wanting to learn something about a different "culture". Why won't you let me? Why won't you help me to do so? It feels like no one is listening to me. Im gonna go watch a movie...I'll check back later
