Hi, I'm a 16 year old who goes to high school in New Zealand. First off, thank you to whoever created this forum and to all the hippies who use it :). Sorry for what is likely to be a long post, at least whatever I can fit in before the Daily Show starts in 20 minutes.

It's only very recently that I've started to explore the wider world and see what's really going on out there. I've discovered myself to be very liberal in my political and social views, however I feel desperate for some way to express myself.

Being in New Zealand, I don't think I've been exposed to the kind of government propaganda that would leave me assimilated with societal norms. In fact, here we're actually encouraged to think outside the square and pursue our own identity.

Now, I'll get to the point. There's nothing blatantly wrong with government policies where I live, in my view. I have a strong urge to protest against so many things that matter to my views: Iraq, tax cuts for the rich, privatized welfare systems, Bush's seeming immunity to the war crimes charges that could be brought against him Nuremberg style, and so forth.

Honestly, I'm not sure how. There's no real interest where I live in Iraq - many people feel that America should not be there, but not strongly enough to protest. After all, our government stuck it in the face of the Bush administration by not sending troops, so what would we be protesting?

Jeez, this turned out shorter than I expected. I don't even know what I'm trying to say . I'm usually better when I'm replying to someone instead of randomly talking shit.

So please, someone do me a favour and reply, and we'll go from there.

    Thanks :cheers2:

New Zealand sounds like a good place to live. I am not familiar with NZ history, but since I have not heard a lot of bad reports, maybe it means it's good. ;)

Perhaps one of the controlling factors in the USA is that too many government employees believe that they not only have the right to control your life, they also believe they have an occupational obligation to hurt people.

I went through a type of law enforcement academy, and I observed how the average person is taught to believe and act as a ruler of lives. At least 80% of the cadets went to their positions where they yelled, screamed, made demands, threatened, physically abused, and otherwise behaved as little tyrants.

When you have time, do a little research on the Milgram experiment. Humans do tend to believe they have the right to kill if an authority figure says its ok. The establishment says its ok.

We are not fighting a physical monster, we are resisting the psychological insanity of individuals who truly believe that aggression is an acceptable behavior.

Here in the USA the citizens have no say in anything. Voting is of no value when the only candidates we are allowed to vote for are all in cahoots together.

NZ sounds nice, but give it time, it will fall to the monster as well. It is human nature to believe that more laws can cure bad laws, and tyranny must happen before it can eat itself to death. :(
