Well, me and my sister did. Our asshole neighbors were shooting it with a bebe gun because it came in their yard. We just assumed it was a stray cuz it had no collar and it was so skinny its hipbones were even sticking out pretty far. So we coaxed him into our house with a dog treat and then fed him a little food; not too much though, or else he would throw up. and we gave him a few baths haha. and oh my goodness he is SOOO CUTE. he looks like a golden retriever mixed with a jack russel or something. he's only about 3-4 months. i want to keep him, but my sister has to talk to her husband about it. it looked like he had been stray for awhile now (really skinny and dirty) and we didnt see any lost dog signs or ads anywhere we looked. i will post pictures of him later, cuz we took a shitload i think im fallin in love with the little guy
We used to have to shoot them when I lived on our farm... or else they'd tear a turkey or chicken coop to shreds. Had a few with rabies come through, too. Of course, there were alot of wild dogs in the area... if not that, they'd be hunting dogs--beagles, blood hounds, coonhounds, etc. that were hungry as hell.
Haha... okey dokey. Last time we called animal control, the guy got the shit bit out of him and hauled ass to the emergancy room. Surveyors (t'was a big farm) used to have to call animal control just to keep a neighbor's hunting dogs away from them. No leash laws and no reason to rely on the county, here.
well george, this is like.. a neighborhood.. and that is really mean i hate anyone that is cruel to animals. but i can understand why you would have to shoot the wild dogs. its so awesome that you have a farm haha. oh yeah, here are some pics...
Had... And I'd never do that to a puppy... They just had alot of free-roaming dogs all over. I saved quite a few, then there were the kind I couldn't lay a hand on without being bitten.. or they'd attack a coop. It's just practical thinking.
My bad, I was just trying to see if it was a mistake or he was really doing what he appeared to be doing.
thats an adorable pup! glad you could save him...he shouldnt have to be tourted by brats and miss fed yay
aggggghhe's so cute it makes me all warm inside.im proud of you hev.i think you deserve a badge or something
Beagles do get pretty freaking hungry don't they? I've grown up around beagles and currently have a beagle mix and I know, you really have to watch your food around them. Good job on saving that dog too
Well, yeah... the long-legged ones they use for pack hunting around here especially. Back then, if they have a tracking collar on them or a tag, we just call up the owner on CB... (they were usually within five miles, my great-grandfather was a member of the local huntclub, knew most people in the village, and we knew alot of the names of the dogs ater awhile) We used to have them come through so much, we kept a special pen for other peoples dogs if they were friendly or tired out from running... you absolutely have to take care of them when you get ones like that. You can usually tell if they've been raised well or their owners really care. If we didn't get someone looking for a dog that we kept around for awhile, we'd either keep them or take them to the humane society ourselves. Went through so many dogs... they'd end up running away (place was so big, they roamed all over, and always tried to find their way back home if we kept them)
Awww that's cute. I dunno why but your story reminded me of the book 'Where the Red Fern Grows' it's a good book about a little boy and his two hunting dogs.
