It's been over a week now since I snuck a cigarette, almost two since I quit smoking with the help of someone very supportive and I must say I feel wonderful. No more icky coughing, or poor cardio health or getting out of breath walking up stairs or hiking witht he dogs.
The greatest blessing of all of this is that I had a dental procedure done yesterday that would have made me quit smoking for 5 days anyway (so I don't suck my clots or stitches out) and I was proud to say 'oh I am not a smoker anymore!'.
I am still on the 7mg nicotine patch, which is the last step and I still need my supportive person to call so he can tell me not to give in, but all in all this is the easiest time I have ever had quitting.
Anyone else recently quit or trying to quit?

Thank you! I had a lot of help, but feel super proud of myself. I was offered a cigarette today and turned it down and that was something I would have noever had the control to do in the past no matter how long I was quit.

I quit cold turkey a couple days ago. I think about it a lot but I have enough mental willpower to never give in. I had fun smoking cigs and had a good run, but its over. Life is about balance, start and end, positive and negative.

I'm trying to quit as well--- well, slowly.
I'm down to two cigarettes a day (my usual was two PACKS a day, so I'm quite proud, really)....
My goal is to be done completely by the end of the week.

Although I haven't completely quit yet... I already feel much better. :)

I too smoke. I say I will quit but I can't quit it, I just get tempted when I see someone smoking. Can you help me to quit please, I know that it is bad for health...I think its mostly impossible for me to quit smoking.

i'm trying to get back down to two a day, and then gradually work my way down to none a day... been eating alot of sunflower seeds, cause they sposed to help u quit smoking.... i keep buying packs of cigs tho.. thats my downfall, is when i'm out i just got so used to saying " i need to go get more"... i know i can go three days w/o a cig. just trying to make it the rest of my life w/o one is my current problem. lol.. any advice would be eternally appriciated..lol

a good way to quit smoking is if your really itching to smoke put that money you were going to spend on cigs away and stashed. keep loading the $$ up and see how much you save.. you will be surprised. my husbnd used the inhaler and has quit for 1 yr and 2 months. its a hard thing to do . journalize how you feel each day and you'll be very surprised how bitchy you were when the time was when you quit.

Hi dear, I'm presently studying to be a fitness instructor/personal trainer. I'm thinking that I would eventually like to be a freelance personal trainer. However, upon completing my qualification I intend to first work in a gym full-time as a fitness instructor. What kind of wage can I expect to earn per year? As a full-time fitness instructor, do you think I will be able to do all of my own training at the gym?

Congrats on quitting! Welcome to FREEDOM! That's what it is-freedom from addiction and it feels great. If anyone thinks they can't quit-they're wrong. I smoked a pack a day for 30 years and I quit over 3 years ago. I'm not even slightly tempted to smoke now-even when I'm out drinking with friends who smoke. I hate to sound like an obnoxious ex-smoker, but I really find the smell of smoke to be gross now. I found a lot of help at quitnet.com. The 3 post rule there is great. Also, try Atomic fireballs (big cinnamon jawbreakers) when you crave a cigarette!

Way to go folks. I quit a two pack a day habit 3 months ago. If I can do it, anyone can. Also, The fed is going to increase the tax on a pack of smokes by 60 cents soon.

I smoked a pack a day for a couple of years. Haven't smoked in a couple months, except I'll have a cigar or two every couple of weeks if I go out drinking.

I feel much better.

yay for u hunny!!! i celebrated my 1 year anniversary not smoking in september, and it was a blessing.i quit cold turkey without anything, just made up my mind that i wanted a family and i wanted them to see me at age 40 not bury me due to lung cancer. i found i have a disorder called MTHFR which can cause bloodclotting and smoking is NOT something that would help that.
this year im working on the diet side and hopefully by next year ill be thinner, smoke free and a happy healthy gal:)
if u need anythnig or a "damn i need a cigarette" vent chat let me know ..LOL..i had many of those with my mom who quit years ago, and she saved me i swear...i almost bought packs of ciggs over and over and she was the one i vwented to to avoid smoking
many hugs and good luck babe stay strong!

Congratulations!!!
I quit smoking about 8 years ago one of the best things I ever did. After a couple of weeks my lungs felt soo clean and nice.

You haven’t posted for a while on this tread so I hope you are still not smoking? If you are I forgive you. You can quit again.
