Any recommendations to the following are gratefully appreciated: a best guess gear budget—21g @ 343 Euros or $493—based on (1) two weeks in Amsterdam; and (2) the conditions and smoking habit, below, that’s by desire and design.

    Conditions:

    · I’m not a full on 24X7 stoner – haven’t been for years, too many senior moments!

    · Gear: The very best weed/hash/keif that will get my head and body off to the max – somewhere totally on the smile, or the semi-nod and watch the steps, or preferably both!

    · I’ll bring a very good full on, un-used grinder – and not in the monster shit pothole in the shade size (very potent on a dirt bike in rural Cambodia!) I’ll also bring an un-used hash bowl – small, so that I can smoke in my hotel room with a fag lit that will cover the smell of the proper hotel smoking hash smoke.

    Then

    1. accumulatively purchase 10-grams of the very best weed, and smoke about three to four splifs a day

    2. accumulatively purchase 11-grams of the very best hash, smoking about a four to five toke bowl about four times a day

    3. sharing a little of my stash with cool individuals that I meet and hang-out with

    4. use the keif from my grinder as lace in a splif about every two days.

    The Formula 1:

This is the part where I could really use some feedback! It’s based in part on recommendations by Koopa in their 07 Gold detailed post, and my likings. I have no idea if all of the gear will be avail in April or the current accuracy of the euro amounts.

I'd recommend trying a 0.6g piece of the "La Tartulia Bubblelator" before you purchase an entire 5g medallion. The 40e per gram dutch moonshine is wonderful but if looking to budget, I really do enjoy the 25e per gram dutch moonshine too. The 6e per gram Texels Finest from Kashmir Lounge wasn't high class hash at all but was decently potent for the price. For the money you can't beat the 18euro per gram jelly hash purchased from Kashmir Lounge.

NOTE: Kashmir Lounge no longer sells hash or weed but they have an affiliated coffeeshop across the street that sells their stuff now.

NOTE: If you go to Haarlem (15 minute train ride) and go to the Willie Wortals Coffeeshops they offer discounts (usually you get about 65e worth of gear for 50e). Also Haarlem doesn't have the same 5g limit that Amsterdam Coffeeshops do. So this is one trip I'd recommend taking if looking to save money and get good gear.

Excellent. That’s exactly the info I needed! One last question, suppose I’m carrying 21g of gear, purchased from Amsterdam and Haarlem, in my day-pack or back-pack and I take the train from Amsterdam to Maastricht. Is there any legal risks getting my gear securely down to Maastricht via train? (I know, this is definitely a newbie to Holland question! But thanks a ton, in advance, for your advice.)

i think you should just buy most of your gear out of Amsterdam (cheaper),

i usually go to Haarlem for mine and jsut buy a few grams at a few select shops, and since your going to Maastricht, it will loads cheaper there

    Peace matt

    Matt,

I’ve made the decision to base myself solely out of Haarlem for my two weeks in Holland. I’ve booked a room overlooking the Square at the Amadeus for 80e/night including breakfast and tax. I’ve read excellent reviews about the Amadeus, and the location of both the Amadeus and Haarlem go well beyond just my gear purchases.

But it is interesting to read your price report regarding both Amsterdam and Maastricht. I’ve read threads, and had some 1:1 correspondence with a CS owner in Maastricht, that cumulatively differs: Basically stating that (1) gear is – in general – more expensive AMS; (2) WW’s CSs usually provides some pretty good discounts (maybe based on purchase volume); and (3) gear in Maastricht isn’t as less expensive than might be expected.

My going in approach is that I’ll sus out the deal, based on personal preferences, when I get to Holland. What the f*ck, I’m still going to have a blast! And unless I’m way off, I still think that I’ll stay within about a $500 budget for 21 grams or so of gear during my two weeks based on what I outlined further above in this thread.

I’m still planning a day trip to Maastricht from Haarlem within a few days after I arrive in Haarlem. I should have plenty of time in Maastricht to sus out the deal. There’s a 06:45 train out of H arriving in M at 09:30. And the last return train out of M is at 22:20. Plus, I have that CS owner contact in Maastricht, so I’m hoping if I score a several grams from him, he’ll point me in the right direction to find or buy other gear on my “Formula 1” list. That is, if he doesn’t have any of the gear I'm looking for or his prices don’t seem right.

Dig, Matt, I’m not disputing what you mention about cities and their gear prices. It’s just that I’m still on holiday break from work; and I’m definitely enjoying getting my fade on and putting in about 4- to 6-hours/night of research specific to a rip of stuff related to my first trip to Holland.

As a matter of fact, I’m a little cross-eyed at the moment. ;)

That is some of the most detailed stuff I have ever read..Your best option dude is to not over think this so much..you will make yourself and others nuts..When you get there just go with the flow and everything will work itself out..You know your budget stick to it and all will be alright..[IMG] And remember prices do change so expect that..And if my math is correct you have a budgeted about 16 euro per gram..seems like plenty if you do indeed smoke the way you expect too..And most importantly ENJOY YOURSELF!!!!!!!!

    Travelling High,

Point well taken, going with the flow is what I typically do when I travel. I guess that I’m just over stoked – to get over smoked – to make my first ever trip to Holland and my first return to Europe in 30-years.

    Thanks!
