I am in dire need of methadone. I have had an opiate addiction for the past several years that stems from arthritis in my spine and 6 bulging discs. I have been taking any pain meds I can get my hands on. I was a patient at a pain management center in my area until I was kicked out because my nephew stole my medication and I went in with a police report hoping for a refill and they popped a piss test and my levels were too high. Since then I have taken oxycontin, percs, vics, or methadone tabs on a daily basis. I was taking 300 mg oxycontin a day for a few months in a row. Now my money is completely gone and I do not have a methadone clinic in my area. Is it wise to admit to a dr. what is going on and just come out and ask for it?

Shit, with those afflictions, it shouldn't be hard to find meds. You'll want to check around, call pain doctors/pain managements. Just ask the front desk, nurse or office manager if they use opiate therapy. You may need referral from a pamily practitioner, depending where you're located.

I can get meds with all of my back pain, my problem is that they don't give me enough and I end up spending money on more. Do you know of anyone who has been treated for opiate addiction by someone other than a methadone clinic? Should I admit to a regular doctor that I am an addict? I am afraid I could be turned in to cps or something. Little do they know I am a much better mother when I have my meds.

no methadone clinic is going to turn you into to cps, Half the people at my clinic have kids and still piss dirty. All most methadone clinics care about is if you pay for your bill for your shit every week. They are not the police or the man and don't report to them eather, unless you are on probation or parole and your PO calls your counsoler to ask about your urine results, Most clinics are there to help people like you and me. You should find out where the nearest clinic is to your house, I will warn you now most clinics are not in the best of areas at all, They are usally smack middle in the Ghetto. Most Herion and crack dealers sell right around the corner. So Good luck !!!

Treatment of pain with opiates, i.e. Roxycodone, Methadone, Oxycontin...

Oh, admitting to a doctor that you're an addict is a sure fire way of not getting treatment.

here's the thing about methadone..eventually your gonna reach the highest level you can get...and after a while you not gonna feel it any more...so in your case you want to deal with your pain..methadone is mainly for addicts so they don't get ill off opiates and don't have to chase heroin morning noon and night. I personally went cold turkey every time off opiates every time..dont substitue one addiction for another meth is way harder to come off of than even heroin..trust me seek the pain management route and dont tell them ur an addict...my grandfather is like you he eventually got fentanyl...if you wanna kick opiates the i would go the suboxone route...that shit is a gift from god..take it easy and i hope your pain subsides.. peace -J

if you get prescibed suboxone, is it anonymous and will it stay off your medical record? like if you have surgury when your older, will they not give you painkillers because you were prescribed suboxone?

GAHH-Thats not true man with methadone your dose does not need to keep going up its not like other opiates, It has a very very long half life, They can stabolize you on a certain level and your body does not need more. Its actually the reverse ounce you feel good on a certain level your dose can start coming down slow, When I first started on my clinic I was on 120mg's now I am on 45mg's.But becasue the half life is so fucking long when you kick the withdrawls are pure hell and make Herion withdrawl look like a walk in the park.

Not at any suboxone clinic I've heard of. At the one my buddy uses it's completely confidential. They don't accept insurance, its cash or credit only. I don't think they even ask for ID, I’m pretty sure you just fill out the forms; the doctor checks you over, checks your blood and urine and assesses the dosage needed and dispenses it. See you again in 30 days.

Maybe you should read this a few times and think about what you said. You're going to ruin your kids' lives if you OD or get too addicted to that shit.

A long half-life means that you're going to be upping the dose a lot more often than a shorter half-life.

along half life maens it stays in your system longer and takes longer fir your body to brake it down which in return makes it so you don't get sick and don't need more every few hours likw with Herion or painkillers .Methadone last about 24 to 36 hours in your system depending on the person. Thats why they only have to give it ounce a day. The way a clinic starts you is no matter the addict if they are eating a few Vicodens or doing 30 bags of Herion a day every one starts the same on 20mgs. You can keep going up 10mg every day until you feel fine again. It took me about 120mg to level out when I first went on it so I would not get sick every day. Then I started going down very slowly every month or so. They usally decrease you 5mg to 10mg at a time until you can wean off of it. I am down now to 45mgs I hopw to be off this shit within a year or so.

yeah but he's talkin about pain management....like i said i wouldnt trade one addiction for another..not mehtadone anyways..the main goal is to reduce the amount your on until you get down to nothing...i would never take methadone again because i got locked up for a bs charge and had to withdraw from 120 mg's cold turkey..so your right a heroin addiction is a walk in the park compared to meth..the key here is either relieve your pain or kick the habit all together..just my 2 cents..but u gotta want it ya know..never mind me im drinkin tequila...viva los curevo hahaha

    To Twizz,
I don't know how to do the quote thing on here, I am pretty computer illiterate, but I only said I was a better mother with my meds because it allows me to move without pain. I have 2 year old twins that want held and picked up and played with and I could not do that without pain medicine. I am not talking about any kind of high.

Be really careful with Methadone. That stuff scares the shit out of me. I only took it once and one bad reaction was enough to make me never want to touch it again. I woke up one morning after having taken it the night before. I went outside to get a coffee and halfway crossing the street I couldn't breathe. I barely made it to the Starbucks so I could sit down. There was a tightening in my stomach and chest. I couldn't exhale. I honestly thought I was going to die. After a few minutes I was OK but I have never been so scared in my life. I never take pills excessively and I only took 5mg of Methadone--and I didn't combine it with any other meds. Just be careful.

Hey Melkm, If I WERE YOU, I'd probably have to listen to Shocomb. That is the only person on here that has given you the right information. I know pain management would probably be a better option in some ways but it would take a while to find the right doctor and still isn't gauranteed. A methadone clinic is gauranteed and is not as bad as alot of people on here are telling you. I have been on methadone for 7 months and I am way better off than before. Methadone is also one of the absolute best pain killers there is. The half life that they were talking about is actually the amount of time it takes for your body to go through half of your dose. So say you took 50 mg., in 28 hrs. you would still have 25 mg. in your body. I have skipped my dose before and didn't even go into w/d's until 2 days later due to the amazing half lives building up in my body.
