Now I admit I am a pretty big guy I am 6-4 and around 250'ish but today this lady I went and helped out must have thought either I loked really hungry or required a pile of food. While working on her computer she brings out a plate of Tacos, 2 huge hamburgers with all the trimmings, 2 brats in buns, 8 cookies, 3 pices of fudge, misc candy and some roasted turkey breast. On 3 plates at once and said "I thought you might be hungry since its lunch time"
You said it, lode. But um, maybe she was trying to show how grateful she was? When my brothers used to do yard work for this old lady she would make them something to eat. But not 3 plates worth... How much did you eat? Sounds like some pretty good food.
I slayed the burgers and that torpedo'd me. I told her my son loved tacos (its true he does) and would eat the rest later (she would not take no for an answere. I seriously respect my elders (senior citizens that is) and the job was a freebie since my mother asked me to help the old lady out. I kinda felt like Adam Sandler and the whole meatball deal.
LOL. That kind of sounds like something I might do. You never know what people like, or if they can't eat certain types of food.
i brought home a freaking cake from the event i went to tonight. they come to me to take food home. i also have 2 huge things of salad. and they wanted me to take more food. i love cake and all, but damn
Did she join you? I mean, maybe she wished to eat together with you. Nope had thier own plate already.
I'm pretty sure that is an ancient ritual for those of us who grew up in the south. We call it "southern hospitality". Anyone comes to my house, first thing I do is get them something to eat or drink.
My grandmother was a little old german woman and dirt poor back in N. Dakota. She never turned a sould away no matter what. Said there was always room for one more and would go without herself just so another would not suffer. I follow her line of thought alot or so family has told me.
Used to be called "common courtesy"... used to be, because now it doesn't exist. Old folks hold on to the idea sometimes, but even most of them have had whatever it was once called beat out of em. Its solely because people are scared of people... Odd, I thought it was a "normal" situation at first , then it hit me, wait, no, nobody does that anymore... gotta assume those taco's are poisen and that guy in your house is gonna shoot you.
Yeah some of us can keep it alive and pass it on! Your Grandma sounds awesome. I hate it that people have so much fear and distrust?! It takes away the best of humanity. I'm not afraid of people and my Mom gets mad at me for it, but hey I'm not gonna spend my life worrying so much.
