Has anyone seen them recently? Are they worth watching? Does anyone know of the current line up? They're going by the name of Space Ritual, with a guy called Nick Turner. Its a pretty low-profile show, £10 tickets and its in a church! The church mentioned is a regular music venue, but still............
Yeah.....I wanted to see them in December at the London Astoria, but the tickets were £25 instead...I'm not an amazing giant fan but it would have been good.
Hey man, i'm going to see Space Ritual tomorrow (saturday 9-04 ) at the Roadburn festival! Looking really forward to it. To bad they'll play at the same time as Electric Wizard, wich I also want to see.
Turns out it was certainly worth going! I haven't been to many gigs but that easily ranks as one of my most enjoyable. Fucking amazing band, even better when you see them live. The set lasted about ninety minutes, each song at least ten minutes long with cool poems in between the songs. I shook Nik Turners hand! That alone would make my night, he is a great performer. He tripped over at one point and was down for about one minute. I thought it was maybe part of the act at first, but he made a hell of a thud when he hit the ground! This is after my friend having bank card trouble and having to find his brother to borrow money so we could get in and a search at the door. Lets just say if the bouncers did there jobs right that could have been the end of the night. Asmodean, they went straight to Stanstead airport from Bristol to catch a flight to Holland! Let me know what you think if you opted for Space Ritual.....
Heh, I liked the dancing girl But serious, what a show. There was a large screen behind the stage with spacy movies and also it was the headliner, so i was already pretty strunk when they began. I was just in the mood for this music at that time, enjoyed it very much. I only saw one hour because Electric Wizard was playing at the same time, but I could listen to it for hours. Great!
Glad you enjoyed it man. You didn't miss much, only about 30 minutes or so. Were you there for Masters of the Universe? That was the best part for me, everyone just went crazy! There was no screen for me but the dancing girls made up for it! They were both cool, one of them was stunning, I think she was called Angel. But yeh....... wicked show!
They also had guest musicians from the Atomic Bitchwax and some other guys. Hm, i can't remember who they were anymore. Someone from Kyuss I believe. I also liked the spoken parts, wich sounded just like on the albums. Excellent music for a smoke.
Oh yes, I think it would be the spoken parts would be a bit creepy on shrooms/lsd. Carlfloydfan, Hawkwind are practically unheard of in the U.S right? I hear they have a very small but loyal fanbase in America.
I saw hawkwind in 1975 they did the whole space ritaul album. better show than pink floyd. you are welcome .check out the cd if it has been remastered. it will blow you away
