Yes, me too! It's the mightiest sound ever created on this earth, and I can proudly say I saw almost all the finest heavy metal bands on that list live :H Good to see Saxon there. I miss Diamond Head on your list though. Since you like NWOBHM bands you should really check Lightning to the nations of them out, if you don't know it already. :)

Woodstock Child, you don't KNOW Heavy Metal. You have no idea of the concept 'Heavy' in Metal music. If you DID, you wouldn't of just compiled a list of classic rock bands, would you?

[Indian-Summer has compiled the best list in relation to heavy music here!]

Yep, me too. And I don't even totally agree with him. But this topic is about heavy metal, it's not about heavy music. So Indian summers list maybe the best metallist, it isn't a heavy metal list. Neither is the one of the topicstarter, but in that one are actually more heavy metal bands.

    Metal is beyond music.

The best about metal is that - even though everyone who doesn't know it or is against it, says it all sounds the same - there is an unlimited amount of variation possible within the genre, and I'm not sure any other genre of music sounds anywhere as diverse as metal does. Consider the HUGE difference in theme, conveyed emotions, pace, structure etc. between, say, Runemagick and Sonata Arctica.

Ah, prepare for a bashing from Metallideth; I doubt he'll think these are Metal (well, maybe some of Lamb of God's older stuff, and maybe Slayer) and WILL let you know about it, probably following up with a list of bands he'd refer to as real Metal and, thustly, leading to another thread spoiler.

    Arch Enemy
    Static-X
    Lamb of God
    Slipknot
    Killswitch Engage
    Fear Factory
    Slayer

...I like these bands, especially Fear Factory and Lamb of God - but as for Symphony X, yeah! They are progressive as hell but if they're you're cup of tea then you go girl! I have an album by them called 'The Odyssey' and it's such a good listen (especially while high :) ).

    Can I recommend checking out;

    Threat Signal
    Dry Kill Logic
    Naildown
    Bloodsimple
    Vision Of Disorder
    The Berzerker
    Necrophagist

"He likes me, he really likes me"

We both know that static x, slipnot, lamb of god, killswitch engage and fear factory are shit.

For the record, I had no intention on making much of a statement at all regarding this turd of a thread.

I can't get into Arch enemy very well. I'd much rather see mike amott reform with walker and steer to give Swansong pt2, but that won't happen. Angela's vocals are wayy to digital.

Holt is a guitar god. Exodus won't top their early albums, but he's still a fckn shredder.

Slayer, priest and x are all good, for sure.

Agreed. I find it funny when a rap fan trys to bash metal, it's so easy to turn around everything they say and apply it to rap music, although I don't really think rap is even very repetitive in a sense.

o.o Since when is Motley Crue classic rock?
Wtf man. Every band I listed is heavy metal.

And Slipknot is not metal. Hell, it's not even music. What crap.

Every band you listed is not heavy metal! Do you know what heavy music is? You're listing Classic Rock bands there!
Compare Slipknot's drummer to that of AC/DC and if you can tell me you prefer AC/DC in terms of blasting out heavy metal drum grooves then that goes to show your favour in rock drumming. Joey is not the best by all means, but a respectable Metal drummer at the least.
Slkipknot are way fucking heavier than Guns n Roses, child.
