I don't answer my home phone because every time I do it's someone wanting to plug something to me, be it a charity or a chance to win a holiday or some crap. I can't stand it and when I tell them I'm not interested they persist with "you're not interested in a FREE holiday??". fuck off. my phone has been ringing constantly all morning. how has this gotten so bad?? I don't remember this shit happening when I was a kid.. it has got to be classified as phone harassment or something.

Do you have a do not call list in Australia? I just put our number on the American do not call registry and finally the random and weird calls are dwindling.

Not unless you tell them no three times, then it's harassment.

It's good for the economy though... usually it's because you're let your number get out there, tell them "Put me on your do not call list immediately" eventually it will die out. :)

I didn't know there was a 'do not call' list.

somehow i feel like that wouldnt stop them all. the worst is when you can hear the over seas delay and some man with a thick indian accent is asking you how your house insurance is going.

Would this thread be more exciting if we started dissing overseas workers?

My girlfriend works at a call center for Discover. I know, I know, but it's a job in a bad economy. Anyway, yes it's true if you have a Do Not Call list in Australia, just politely tell them to put you on the do not call list. They will take you off and there will be no more problems. Just may have to do it for every company that calls you.

    Hope that helps! :)

That is something I have learned through my girlfriend working at a call center. They most of the time can't hang up the phone. They have to keep rebuttling. So if you just simply hang up, the issue is over. But people will continue to get mad and yell and continue the conversation. All they need to do is pick up, then hang up.

I know. It just seemed we have this sorted now.
Don't be racist. Racism sucks. Just xenophobic.
I can handle the "thick Indian accent" I hear that a lot.
I guess my worry is if I start getting calls off the Chinese or Australians...I'll be stuck then.

I usually do hang up on them, but it's irritating that the phone is constantly ringing.

    and I'm not american.

Australia Has A Do Not Call Option But None Of The Junkmail Callers Take

Any Notice Until You Subtlety Point Out To Them That There Is A Rather

Large Fine For Breaching It..*about $11,000 i think*, Then They

Appologise And Promise To Remove Your Number, Then A Week Later

    They Call Again..

Haha! My girlfriend prefers they just hang up rather than yell... If she isn't getting the sale, she just wants them to hang up.
