I only listen to classical music and I prefer the great romantic composers- Beethoven, Liszt, Borodine. I don't listen to any popular music, because everybody listens to that, No country music because its the same old somebody done somebody wrong song. Certainly not rap music which I don't regard as music at all, but rather primitive tribal chants. None of this garbage is likely to endure hundreds of years as the great classical composers.

Classical is great. My favorites are Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, and Chopin among others. That said, there is a lot of great music in other genres. Will any of it be listened to 200 years from now? Too bad we won't be around to know, but the Beatles about a third of the way there.

Yes, a lot of the music is forgettable especially these days, but guess what? There is a lot of forgettable classical music, too. The cream of the crop will always rise.

Sometimes I like music with a groove.
So I like jazz, rock, reggae

Sometimes I like music that sets a mood.
So I like jazz, classical, 60s, chill

Sometimes I just like background music
So I like smooth jazz, ambient, zen

I hate the sound of other people's voices, don't listen to music, and sing to myself instead. My voice always sounds right to me, and I prefer to follow my own muse.

I am not a jazz lover, but there is always an exception.

I just blamed the piano, not to mention the girl playing it. :)

Try some classical music wedded to rock.
The album Days of Future Passed was recorded by the Moody blues with Peter Knight and the London Festival Orchestra in order to show off Deram Records new stereophonic sound for classical recordings.
Deram wanted them to record an album incorporating elements of Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 9.
Here's a sample; a fusion of rock, classical, and oriental styles.
The orchestra weaves in and out for the entire song.

I like one jazz album--Take 5 by Dave Bruebeck. The songs are going someplace instead of just wailing what sounds like noise coming from confused minds.

Here's a nice jazz piece for those who are skittish about the genre. Stanley Turrentine with George Benson, Ron Carter Freddie Hubbard, a classic!

Yes, you are indeed being a music snob. lol
You’re entitled to your own taste of course. Few people share my tastes either. I love the classics too. I studied classical piano and guitar for decades ( now just casual playing).
I agreed with you until the end of your comment. Of course some popular music is trash and will fade into obscurity but there are tremendously talented musicians and composers across all genres and there’s no reason to believe they won’t still be enjoyed and appreciated 100 years from now. Hell, most classical musicians/ composers weren’t appreciated in their time.
I’m opinionated ( extremely) when it come to music but I’m careful to use objective phasing when discussing music because below it or not, my opinion doesn’t dictate the quality of music only how I personally feel about it.

]This a contemporary metal band from Japan. It’s not for everyone and that’s okay but if you listen to this and declare it “ trash”, then I can’t even discuss music with you. The entire performance is art.

I recently started listening to the band Mazzy Star, it's alternative music, I never thought in a million years I'd be listening to this stuff. It brings out the sensitive, articulate stuff about life, If I were working in Construction and having a lunch break with the guys, I'd definitely recommend it to the guys for relaxation and peace of mind lol
