yea i got busted for possession of marijuana under 50 grams, the under 50 sounds a bit broad of a statement to me... i know New Jersey laws suck but i still dunno what i'm going to get. hope there isnt a drug test, dont wanna stop smokin... anyone know what kinda fine or anything i'm lookin at?
Not sure about NJ but most states the worst you will get is probation for some thing like that. Cops and prosecuters will try to scare you into ratting people out or pleading guilty, but don't do it. If you can get a lawer who will try the case, not make a deal. With an amount this small you can often get off because it is simply not worth it for the cop that arested you to take the time to come to court. It's expensive to fight a charge, but if you can afford it you will save yourself trouble down the road by not haveing a record. This only applies is you are being charged as an adult, if you are not then don't worry at all because you can get your record sealed when you turn 18.

So even if you're carrying a dime you will be charged the same as someone with an ounce? That's messed up. I'm not sure what will happen with your particular case, but I wanted to express my displeasure with the law.

Not necessarily. He never said how much he had, unless you were talking to him in a PM or something. My friend was ticketed $100 for "possession of marijuana under 100 grams", but that didn't mean he had over an ounce. (He actually had a little under an eighth)
Look, no matter what the guidelines say you will not go to jail for a small amount(less then 5 lb.) of weed in most cases, unless there are other factors involved. Things like guns, graf. gear on you(cops really hate writers), having it broken up in seprate bags for sale ,or some other crime being commited. Even then your not likely to be going to jail. The guidelines are used by cops and prosecuters to try to scare you into being a snich, or pleading guilty. Don't forget that no matter what they tell you getting caught with that much weed is not that serious, don't freak out.
I got charged with possesion less than 2oz back in October 9, 2005 and by my experience you will most likely get probation for 6-12 months, a piss test every month, drug classes, and maybe community service. My advice to you is stay away from the pot, for if you don't, you'll spend the remainder of your probation in jail and will get charged with violating your probation, which will add to jail time....that is if you get probation first off all (you'll probably get probation so don't freak out). So, just pay your fees, stay clean (atleast for probation time),and look ahead. My other advice is that if you're planning on smoking again after probation, just get a dealer who will deliver it to you house and smoke it privately(something i should of done...oh well...we all make mistakes).
