I got a juicer from my friend's dad because they got a new one for the holidays and gave me their old one. I'm addicted to juicing. I've made a lot of juices so far. My fav was cucumber/tomadeo/carrot/ginger...yummy! orange/apple/lemon is amazing too. The weirdest thing that I've noticed is that people are scared to drink their veggies because everyone that i asked to try my juice said no and that they only chew their veggies..lol I don't understand it. Does anyone do juicing and do you have any suggestions for a noob? Peace + Love
woohoo...i love juicing too..my fave is carrot strawberry and banana and avacado, kiwi and celery...yummmm try them out their an awesome combo add some soy protein powder to your juice for a protein boost
I drink V8, but somehow I don't think that is quite the same a s juicer. I would love to own one. Do they waste any of the vegies you put in or does the whole tomato or carrot get used? I hate to waste food.
the machine sucks all the liquid out of the veggie or fruit..there is a thick dry mixture that the machine discards....I have always wondered if it was good for anything?? I love veggie juice! We have a juicer and it rocks! I also love to make smoothies w/ my magic bullet! it's good for making soup, choppin veggies, blending, grinding coffee...and a bunch of other stuff... I like appliances and grocery stores!
i love my magic bullet! i make at least one or two smoothies a day in it. its not as quick as the infomercial implies, but it still works great.... and is a really really easy to clean.... it takes about 3 seconds!
Oooh, how fun My parents just bought the vitamix and I pester them every time we go over to visit, so we can try something new. I have a blender. It works so-soish for some things, not at all for others. For the most part I'm stuck with smoothies & raw fruit. But so far that's been okay love, mom
Juicers are better than buying store bought juices which are obviously pasteurized which kills alot of important things found in the natural fruit which one would also get from eating say a fresh orange..etc. I have wondered since it is freshly juiced, can't you just freeze it to preserve it? I know you can't let them sit long in the fridge like at most 2-3 days, but what about freezing? Another disadvantage of juicing is the cost. I mean a whole box of blueberries isn't even a shot glass of juice and costs 4.00 sometimes at the grocery store. Oranges on the other hand are cheaper and are quite juicy to begin with. Carrots are also cheap. Pomegranates seem juicy but how do u juice with all them seeds and stuff? Would using a orange squeezer thing work better? By the way Pomegranates are rated as having alot of anti-oxidants. They are close to Acai and Blueberry on the scale.
the cost is why you see so many mixes based on cheaper/ more watery produce. as for leftovers, I have added a splash of carrot juice back into the pulp for muffins and cakes but the majority gets composted with the wheatgrass flats to make more organic soil for the WG. I have also composted it for small garden use when we were off the WG cycle.
