so you know how people can have an addiction to drugs and everything, what kinds of advice would you give to them? and if someone was addicted to love or the idea of love, would you offer them the same advice?

    Is love harming the person..?

I mean, drugs do. If love hurt someone, I would probably give similar advice, sure. You addicted to love?

No, even between different drugs the advice wouldn't be the same.

Addicted to love? Start shooting smack. You won't have to worry about love ever again :)

Depends on the advice. I believe the key to successfully shifting any drug is to simply replace the habit. Cold turkey is hard, so for example, a cigarette smoker could use the patch.

In regards to love, well you just have two options. Find love, and embrace it that way, or fill the whole. As stupid as it sounds, pets, hobbies, anything can be there to try and take your mind off it.

I will admit, although single via choice at the moment I can get a little lonely, but I have a little dog who helps fill a whole. And no, I don't mean sexually :p

im not saying that its easy to quit anything you are addicted to, but i do feel it is largely a matter of willpower. if the love, or the quest for it, is affecting your life badly, then it is up to your willpower to quit. perhaps not quit seeking or expressing love, but quit approaching it from your current angle (lets say, meeting someone at a library/ hobby class as opposed to casual hookups starting a relationship, or whatever)

but a large part of addiction is the mental thing, and that takes willpower to overcome. sometimes i drink tea instead of coffee, keeps me on my toes.

there is nothing you can say to change an addict.. they do what they do for whatever reasons they deem justified.. just gotta watch the downward spiral until they realize and change.. or destroy themselves.. i've dealt with addicts and that is the honest to god truth...

if you're addicted to love.. well then you might as well face it.. you're addicted to love :p

    Nothing

Until they are willing to admit there's an issue anything you say will fall on deaf ears and once they acknowledge things then there's nothing you really need to say.
