I have toyed with the thought of religon for some time now and alot of it occurs to me to be a mixed message, Ive come to an understanding that a religon is a thing that people kind of sit behind and believe in order to keep the constant wonder out of there head as to where they came from or what theyre here for. I believe in unity of everything, for all we know our universe is equal to just one thread in some old mans shirt, if you can dig what im saying..im basically trying to say that maybe this whole universe is just part of another universe and that there are so many different universe's but in some way were all connected to eachother in one unifying way, I have been to church and i feel that people in christian churchs dont have it wrong, its more of a way for them to feel content, i do believe in something greater...but i dont think its as easy as some guy writing a book and thats that. There could be a whole other species on this planet that we cant even see let alone communicate with, our eyes cannot see everything that is around us, our vision only lets us see soo much, i believe in spirits..i dont like to call them ghosts because of the fact that thats a term that people use to scare other people. On that subject i dont think spirits are here to scare people rather to live amongst us and feel like one.... Another thing is reincarnation, I have had dreams where it felt so real..almost like another life with different people and new things...so maybe i did live a different life before as a different person or plant or anything for that matter. There is soo much unity in this world, but in order to be unifyed with the world you must unify with yourself.

he can be very enigmatic, but he is not trying to be "the mystery man" guru. it is just difficult to put the indescribable into words.

your post made me think of him because he was always encouraging people to be free of dogma and the comfort zones of religion, belief systems, etc...he even encouraged them to continue to question what he ever said. he did not want "followers" - he liked to investigate life with fellow humans he saw as equals. and he often went into the topic of unity.

i love the thread in an old man's shirt line....like maybe earth is a marble in a game played by aliens?? like after the credits in Men In Black, which people who skip the credits never got to see [IMG]

that is the problem with the worlds religions - they lack unity. sure they have some sort of unity within each religion but that is limited to people of the same faith. we are all one - humans on earth together, yet we fight over our differences. i think that religion causes too much conflict in the world.

no one needs religion to be a good person.

Very true, religion stands only to create division. Everyone should come together as members of the human race, and embrace our differences, cause the fact that differences exist amongst humans is what makes us the same.

Awesome points made, i feel the same way. But when it comes to the dry reality of it all its going to be the different groups, i mean it practically starts in high school with different groups, i was friends with alot of different people, but thats the way of life, as much as we set ourselves away from animals were just another species of them. We have animal like tendicies, to move in packs, we mate, we fight....and if we ever want to break away from those tendicies we need to come together and get rid of things like war and poverty, we wouldnt have this if everyone cared for one another and didnt let greed fill theyre eyes with dollar signs, its not how you yourself live life its how you live life with the people you live with in this world.Because nothing will change your life more than relizing how much we actually need one another.

i tend to trust my intuition on certain things, and i feel that any way of thinking that realises and embodies the truth of the interconnectedness and ultimately the unity of all life (it is after all the manifestation of an "energetic mystery" for want of a neutral term) is a good thing.

my philosophy is a little hard for some people to handle, but i feel that all things are enabled by this energetic mystery, including the things we think we don't like. they are just arising and passing along with the rest of manifestation. so, sure - so-called negative thinking is also "ok" by that philosophy, it's just that once it is seen that it's not necessary to think like that, that one can think thoughts of love and unity, then all action taken with that mind-set has a unifying action rather than a divisive one. then wherever one goes within the living of life, there is a tendency to produce harmony rather than conflict... we are each responsible for our little piece of the pond. the ripple effect sees to the rest. Im glad we met, your mind is set like only a few others are, and it is truly open minded to question everything and to have an outlook on life in a postive manner, to look at war and say something positive about it, like i know they are prone to trying to hurt eachother but i wish for peace and hope that they will ditch theyre trails paved with blood and relize that this is not protection. That is power. Power is one of the single most things that keep us in war, that and greed

Power and greed are two things that i want to live without.

well you seem to be making a pretty good go of it. people tend to seek "power over" when they feel powerless within themselves. i feel that what we could call the "worst" in a person is actually the part that needs the most grace and gentleness of mind while meeting them.

i like using tai chi principles for severe crisis management scenarios; you just step aside and the "attacker" falls flat on their own impetus because they were tensed for resistance and instead they met emptiness.

having said that, i do love the story of the zen monk who was asked by a female student how to deal with a man who was harassing her in the marketplace. the zen master said "my dear, you fill your heart with love and compassion, and then you hit him as hard as you can with your umbrella!"

well, it is said you see others not as they are, but as you are. [IMG]

what i love about this forum is that there are so many minds of every ilk you could imagine, and a high percentage of them are free-thinking, positive and loving souls. you will get to recognise them the more time you spend here.
