I've been to several of his concerts (couldn't pass up free tickets), but I always left feeling . It's like I WANT to like him, but I can never make out any of the words when he sings. I like the lyrics, but I have to look them up to know what they are. I don't know, maybe I'm just crazy...thoughts?
I agree with you and some of his songs especially the more upbeat ones it sounds like he hiccups and his pitch raises. I saw him once live for free in Golden Gate Park with some best friends I had not seen in a year and he brought out Santana for a couple songs (including 'All Along The watchtower') so I thoroughly enjoyed myself but I can only take so much DMB.
i find his music to be rather boring... devoid of imagination... and as deep as the concrete. that being said, it shouldn't be surprising that i think very little of his frat-lord minions and harem of young-rich girls.
i was never able to get into DMB as a teenager growing up, although i liked a few of their songs. It wasn't until just after an ice storm and we got power back but all i had was one cd and it was DMB live in chicago in 98 and I decided to eat some 2c-t-7 and i sat and listened to both cd's(It was a two disc set) and i realized that DMB live is fucking AMAZING! and from then on out i've been a huge DMB fan
I like some of his stuff, but a lot of it just seems like bullshit. Take for example, "The Space Between". I actually like the song, and it sounds pretty nice, but if you actually listen to the lyrics, it's like he's just putting random words together for no other reason then they rhyme.
I went to one of his concerts at the Gorge was impressed with the instrumental improv. I definitely like his old albums much better than what's he's come out with recently.
live in Chicago '98 is the absolute shit. i've had it in my car player for the past three months and can't bring myself to take it out
