I have to leave town, for about a week and a half , and i don't want to tell any one about my garden, But i need to keep them watered, does anyone have any tips on how to keep my plants from dying while i'm gone, they are a little under a foot tall right now and they are growing pretty fast?
ummm....Hydroponics kits? lol i don't know theres not all that much you can do but have someone else take care of them
Could do with some more info on your growing method. Soil or hydro. Plus lighting etc. You could move the light further away keep the temp down and generally slow things down. Give them a really good watering and hopefully if you have eased things off enough you should be OK for ten days. Failing this you could devise a reservoir system of some sort.
this is just off the top of my head but it worked for me on my three week vacation. take a few two liter bottles and clean them out. DO NOT USE SOAP!!! just rinse them thenfill them with water. put the cap back on and poke two or three nail sized holes in the top. (you may have to use nails lol) turn the water filled bottles upside down and bury the cap near the base of your plant. (you may need to prop the bottle upright with something, use your imagination) now the water will seep out of the cap as the dirtpulls it out and you should have a couple weeks before the bottle is empty if you use one for each plant. sometimes you may not need to even use the cap on the bottle. you sant to make sure that the holes in the cap are big enough that they will not get clogged but small enough so that you cant see that water coming out sonce it is burried. if you can watch it coming out into the dirt it is going too fast and you will not have much time before it is empty. just experiment and see what works for you.
Also just about every novelty catalog and and some garden sections in magor chain stores have lids for those 2L botles with a spike to hold them in place and work as you described
well really i wouldnt worry about it god will water it for u unless u live some where that doesnt get much rain fall. Also if you have alot of clay in the grownd were your gardens at then water them good before you leave and then put 2ins of leaves over the the top of the ground and they should be good
