    Hello,

I can't get it up, my lazy arse. I planned to close at least 10 items from my todo list over the holidays. Now guess how many of them are still open? Correct, all 10 items.

    Regards
    Gyro

One should never start a new year with pressure and expectations.

Wait until at least June before you revisit that list and then it either will already be done or not matter much anymore! :)

    Hello,

if I wait till June some people might kill me, so in some sense it doesn't matter much anymore then ;).

Oh my, tough crowd that you run with! :)

You may need to learn the fine art of avoidance! ;)

    Hello,

well, there is one item that I promised to be ready in february last year. I thought I could hack it in the evenings in my hotel room. I couldn't. But is it my fault that my boss booked me a room in a hotel with a nice bar? Then I shifted the item to april, thought I would be in the HQ then. But I wasn't. Again, it was my boss' fault. She sent me to another customers site. And so on. The good thing is that this todo item is for some guys in Australia. They don't know exactly what deadlines are, they don't pay and they are far far away from me ;). I plan to deliver the next february... So what is the art of avoidance exactly ;)?

    Regards
    Gyro

Gyro, why mess with a good thing. Forget the art of avoidance, you have procrastination down to a fine art! That is a talent! :)

I am proud of you!! :)

    Hello,

I'm honoured ;). Well, other todo items have to be done timely. Customers usually pay big bucks and they have the right to be satisfied.

Myself, I think you should run for government, you know how to make promises and not keep them, and you've got the shifting the blame thing down pretty good also. Seriously you could fit right in. :D

    Hello,

I will take this into account if I don't like the techie job anymore ;). And believe me, the world would be a much better place if more engineers would be in the parliaments. The German Bundestag is full of teachers and lawyers, because their job is secured while they are playing politics. Take an engineer out of his job for four years and he has no chance to find a job anymore. His knowledge is mostly obsolete after four years. Nothing bad against teachers and lawyers, but running a state with this homogeneous group of people seems to be a bad idea.

    Goog morning,

usually that works great for me. I maintain the todo lists in a tool that I use every day for most of my other tasks. That makes switching back and forth between real work and maintaining todo lists very smooth. Another big plus is that I now can track where I spent my time over the day. Nowadays I track time only for customer projects. But as I started with that several years ago I tracked everything I had done during the day for a few weeks. That was a great boost in productivity for me.

    Regards
    Gyro
