Sometimes I think I am, and sometimes I know I am not. What is inside of me may carry the spirit and intent but I do not actively live the lifestyle nor seek it out. Doesn't make me a bad person but, Sometimes I wish I were a true hippie, missed out going to Woodstock by five years (11 at the time). When I ever do retire I hope there's a commune right around the corner willing to take in an old grisly veteran of the establishment. We could learn from each other. 8I
Sounds like a plan man. I, for one, respect that, and would gladly be in favor of your acceptance in such a commune.
Absolutely true, in fact, being honest makes you a good person. Welcome to these forums. Peace, poor_old_dad
i for one feel only hippies should be allowed to post in the "hippy" section of the forums but Skip is against it
I feel the same way. I once considered whether I should "go hippie" all together 'cause I feel like I've got an inner hippie. I also felt I had an inner goth waiting to break out. The only thing that stopped me was laziness. I'd have to change my whole look and wardrobe, and to be a goth I'd have to put on tons of makeup. So I decided to say, whatever, f**k it. I'm just me.
Hey Jhan, Thanks man I needed that, I thought this place was about acceptance. Looking forward to talking about life in general. 8I
poor old dad, Honesty does cut out all the mistrust eventually doesn't it? Thanks for the welcome friend. 8I
neponiatka, Russia? Really? I am interested in other points of view about the outside world and frequent a forum with internationals. Good to hear how the USA is percieved out there and what actually gets through as information. You are right about the 'feel' part of what being a true hippie is and all. Nice to meet you. 8I
ChiefCowpie, I am new obviously, who is Skip? If you close off your way of life don't you think that would be detrimental to the continuance of ideals and tenents of hippie ways? If you become exclusionary then won't you become what the Amish are to the non-believers? Only through mutual acceptance and respect of each others ways will we understand true harmony. What say you? 8I ps. I can understand the mistrust brother. What would ease your mind about me, do you want more info other than the flip profile? I would gladly give out the facts, anytime.
Thanks loopie, I have an image of Kermit alongside you kicking back on the couch! lol. Good to meet you and thanks for the feedback. 8I
gib, You nailed it man. Why does everyone wrap themselves in a label and then wear a particular uniform? I have gone through musical phases and carried the banners of many cutural ideas, but kept myself comfortable in tshirts and jeans. Why can't a person be left alone to his own devices and not have to be identified by style or particular clothing? I remember being a punk in early 70's and shrugging at the trendy punk clothes and boots in Macy's by late 70's-early 80's. So sad. 8I ps. I remember being kept out of Leggs (punk/new wave club 1982)because I didn't have the 'look'. So I bounced the bouncer with a few wails from GenX, the Clash, and Gang of 4...he let me in ;of course I had to prove myself to some of the regulars but I felt it was an initiation of sorts. lol.
Skip is the Hip Forums Webmaster, I guess he's basically the owner of this web site. And don't worry about what "ChiefCowpie" thinks, or says. Peace, poor_old_dad
you're one of the "almost a hippy" folks i like because you're doing the most to stop the war... i'll ask Skip if we can make you the first one to give a "y" when the war is over since you have done so much to end it... until then, much love to you and all the other hippos
