for the past 3 weeks I've been sustaining minor injuries on pretty much a daily basis. that wouldn't be so bad in itself except that most of them get infected. but yesterday the cup really overflowed. about five days ago, I got really messed up on mushrooms and hurt my leg quite severely. I did other things that night that made me something of a celebrity, but I won't go further into that here. so after three or four days trying to rest, cooped up in my room, ordering food, playing computer games and watching south park (I'm seriously so super glad I bought this laptop) I decided fuck it, I need human contact, I need to spout some bullshit, and I need to have a goddamn laugh. (other than one inspired by south park) so I get dressed, limp down the hill, and I'd been limping along the road for about twenty seconds when a local pulls over his motorbike and offers me a ride. sweet salvation! I'm free of the (normally) twenty minute walk into town, which I'm sure would have been much less comfortable than usual given my hurting leg. so I'm on the bike, right, and this motherfucker is driving like a goddamn lunatic, at one time he whips the handlebars back and forth really quickly, I think either because he wanted to be cool and impress me or because he was high on some crazy drugs, or just plain old stupid. we arrive into town, I offered to walk from an intersection close to where I wanted to be, but oh no, he insisted on taking me all the way there. and what happens? homeboy does the swirvy thing again, this time while there is an oncoming truck, loses control, and we eat shit. he was in a worse state than me by far, all I ended up with was minor cuts and bruises on my right hand and foot, but still. I don't feel I've done anything recently to deserve all this. some of it, I'm sure, but come on, man!
I know the feeling. My leg is jacked and all I want to do is go be active. I cant run, skate, or do shit. And who knows for how long.
ugh, sorry about that man. this kind of stuff really sucks. what did you do to your leg? I've only got about five more days of diving before I leave, and the way it feels at the moment, I should probably stay out of the water for that whole time. argh!
Where do you leave to? And I just tweaked my knee, too much sideways pressure. Either some things tore or stretched in there, I am just now able to walk after a week.
heh, that sounds really similar to what I did. some sort of twisting of the knee, I was able to limp right off the bat (actually, I was still running around like a madman for a while just after doing it) but today I discovered it's easier to ride my bicycle than walk(limp.) I'm going to Laos, but it's all good, I'll be back for more diving in December. hope yours heals up nice and quick bro.
Thats funny, when I injured mine it hurt and was stiff immediately but I kept riding for 2 more hours. The next day I couldnt walk. Laos.. that should be an experience. Sounds like a fun time. And thanks, hopefully yours does the same.
I can relate to the motorbike story. I have caught rides from some suicidal/homicidal maniacs and I am lucky to tell the story. I hope you get a period of good luck. I think you need to strap cushions all over your body.
damn I've crashed befor ands it's not fun...scars on elbows and shit and let's hope this bad luck ends for you
Yeah be careful. My knee went out on me when I was about 23 from my 'boyfriend' sidesweeping me so that his drunk ass could drive from a party. He messed something up. From then on injury was quick to happen. I went hiking once and jumped down to a rock under me....only a foot and a half....my knee went out and I had to hobble the entire mile and a half back. Was on a trampoline and it went out again. Eventually it was so messed up that whenever I would get on the floor to play with my daughter, it would pop out of position. At that point it didn't hurt anymore but I could literally hear a "POP" and I had to straighten the leg to get it back into place. It was scary. Your knee isn't supposed to do that. I had surgery 4 years ago on it. Its been mostly fine since then but occasionally it well get shaky. I never thought I would have to treat my body so delicately and it sucks because I like to rage.
Maybe he should wear one of those suits from a women's self defense class... Although, it would be difficult to get on a motor bike...
or a skateboard. i nearly hit a guy skateboarding to work down the middle of the highway every day. i mean, every day i nearly hit him.
