My dog was barking out the window earlier, so I looked outside and saw 3 guys standing in my yard with guns in there stupid orange coats. I opened the window and said, can I help you with something? They were just like "Joe gave us permission to hunt here." and were about to just continue on. I was like, no, you have to have my permission, and I don't want you here so please leave. They stood there arguing with me about hunting on the grounds that I rent, in my freaking back yard! So I was like, you have to have my permission too, and I am grieving the loss of my grandma, and I don't want you here, so get off this property! See, I rent my house, it's a farmhouse on a few acres of land. My landlord will not allow people to hunt here without them asking us first. These assholes were just standing in my yard like they owned the place. It's like, I pay the rent here, if I don't want you in my yard, you get the hell out! Don't argue with me, get out. If you do not have written permission from the landowner you will go to jail, and I will call the sheriff. I called my landlord and he said he did not tell these guys the could hunt. He told them they had to ask us. So now, I am scared they will be out there again tomorrow and shoot my dogs when I let them out in the morning. Death of a loved one, family drama, people shooting guns in my yard without my permission or knowledge even, can't I get a freaking break?!
Are you anti-hunting? I am and I tell ya if I was in you're situation the cops would be there in a second. Not only because I am anti-hunting but guns in general make me uncomfortable, not to mention 3 strangers having them in my yard. I'd say call the cops.
I'm not exactly anti-hunting, but I don't allow it on my property that I rent here. I wouldn't hunt myself, but I don't tell other people they shouldn't as long as it's no where near my house. I wanted to call the cops, but landlord told me not to because the guys rent the fields behind the house from him to farm. But believe me, if they are back tomorrow I'm calling the cops.
At This Point, The Correct Thing For Them To Do, Would Would Be To Extend Their Condolences To You, Then Quietly Leave.... Why Would Three Men Want To Stand There And Argue The Point With a Lady Who Is Clearly Distressed.... Give Some Men A Gun, And They Think They Own The World.... Cheers Glen.
Guns make me uncomfortable too. Especially when they are being held and used by strangers who have no interest in me and my family and our pets. I always said I would never get one, but in the past week I've had two incidents out here where I really wish I would have had one for my own protection.
Yes, the audacity of some people never ceases to amaze me. I would never in my life do something like that. Some people just have something missing in them where they do not feel for others I guess.
Someone once gave me hunting rights to their land. But his property line ended much sooner than he told me, and I was unknowingly hunting in a strangers field. I shot a doe and almost was arrested. Luckily the game warden that showed up grew pot for the guy I was buying from at the time.
These guys knew where they were. I bet you would not have hunted there without their permission if you had known you had left the land you had permission to hunt on. You would have asked their permission as well, right? Most people, in fact, every person who has come and asked me has been very respectful and just said ok, that's fine, and left. I had a problem with this particular guy in the spring as well shooting ground hogs in the field. He was shooting towards our house, and I'm sorry, I don't care if you are renting the field. Shooting towards my house is never going to be ok. The guy is just a real asshole.
buy a sign or get them free from the county office. The maximum penalty for hunting without written permission of the landowner for a first offense is 60 days in jail and a $500 fine. The maximum penalty for a second offense is 90 days in jail and a $750 fine. A person must carry written permission at all times while engaging in hunting or trapping on private land and exhibit it upon request to a state wildlife officer, sheriff, deputy sheriff, police officer, other law enforcement officer, owner of the land, or the landowner’s authorized agent.
I have signs posted. Hell, I even put one on my front door so the guys who didn't see them on the trees and down the drive would see it before the rang my bell and bothered me about it. I know they don't have written permission from the landlord, so if they come back tomorrow I'm just going to call the sheriff. I'm not playing this game.
people cross over posted land all the time. they believe hunting seasons gives them a right to trespass. if they are hunting, they are trespassing..
