When people cant feed themselfs yet have four or five kids? Its obvious that we all have the right to have children but I see these news reports and see the condition of this shit hole countrys where theres no water, livestock, the air is just a bunch of gust. Why would u bring a inflant to this? Lack of education?
And the islamic koran thumpers say no aid will be allowed in for the starving masses...We need to worry more about our own country and quit trying to save the world, stop being the worlds police force....:-/
they cant afford contraception . Im sure theres alot of rape crimes and violence there too.. Poor babies tho. i hate those ads that sho the starving kids
i find it weird how they can have babies tho, because don't anorexic girls stop having periods and some may never even have kids?.. Its weird how you can do everything by the book and miscarry , and then these starving people can produce babies, lots of them
lack of education, lack of contraception, tradition...many Africans are still very tribal in that the younger generation takes care of the older generation. Its in the best interest of the older generation to have a lot of offspring to care for them in their old age. Not to mention when you're fighting for survival, the more mouths you feed might make it harder but the more hands used to work makes it easier. People growing up in poor, uneducated parts of the world don't really have the luxury to think about things like overpopulation.
People are the same the world over. If you were in that situation you'd do the same thing. Just dumb luck and resources in the end. North Africa is just one big desert, not a whole lot of the rest of the continent rich farming land. When settlers came to places like Australia or the US, lots of flat grasslands easiily turned into farming lands, no dense jungles to hack down, not much hilly country that made it difficult. The middle of Australia is just one big desert, if there wasnt all this rich farmland on the edges, or nothing to mine in the centre, we'd probably be more like Afica. Or the middle east, if there wasnt oil underneath it would just be one giant cesspool. But this sentiment, that its somehow the people that are the difference, their "values", religion, intelligence/education. What a load of garbage. If society totally collapsed in the west, it would probably take under a month for us to all resort to cannibalism and go off raping and pillaging neighbouring towns. Part of the reason Africa is so fucked, is that the West and Middle East have been fucking them over for centuries
Just stick an antelope bone in your nose, a plate in your lower lip, and you just might pass for a Nubian from Ethiopia :2thumbsup: Hotwater
I think it's a rather debatable issue. On one hand, the West and East haven't done much to help them aside from converting them to religions, and giving them high tech weaponry; which just makes shit worse. On the other hand, the West and East developed a thousand times faster, and that's nor their fault that Africa didn't. But starving, uneducated people with extremist values and high tech weapons aren't good for the world. But there's not much we can do except for trying to help them help themselves by teaching them. But not many want to teach them without exploiting them or indoctrinating them.
When there are people who are economically unable to fend for themselves in what we're made to believe is the richest country in the world why is it that our attention and charitable efforts are to be diverted elsewhere? Who is deciding that our charitable priorities as citizens should be on the other side of the world before we attend to our neighbors?
don't believe the organizations with those ads. working for save the children at a good pay i learned where the money was going.
mostly yes. it was sad because they would tell us to use these 'facts' and they were not true what so ever...a lot of the people in the office were unaware of it though; just as unaware as the donators .
The Children's Network is the most disgusting scam ever. The best way to donate is through smaller churches and other grass-roots direct networks. I went to a Lutheran church that did a lot of Free Trade sales for African Charity and would work with a sponsor that would double their money if they met certain goals. And because they tracked their sales, they were always able to pick goals they would be able to meet. The Pastor and her husband also took mission trips to build houses and feed children every couple years (though I've heard mixed opinions on how helpful/harmful mission trips are). And since they went to Christian communities, these trips didn't typically involve conversions.
Those who have no money and don't know what to do about the situation wish they could help. Those who do have great wealth always seem to indulge in their own self.
