im sectioning my hair right now and we have been doing 1/2 inch sections with the idea of having around 130 dreads... only now i've got a quarter done and there are 60 there alone... am i doing them too tight or something? is 240 dreads ok? i cant find anywhere on the internet where anyone claims to have more than about 150. and half of those seem to be synthetic. hit me back so i know if i should take these out and redo it bigger before i go back-combing. thanks.
Well to be honest, I would think 130 would be a lot. But it really depends on what you would like/how big you want them. If you think it'll look good and you'll be happy with it, I say go for it. Personally, I'd aim a little lower, but really, to each his own.
well cool... they look like they'll be skinny but i think all together it will look pretty full and... um... predator-ish... haha.. i dunno. maybe more like a mop on my head guess we'll find out. thanks for the optimism
eh.. i started to backcomb one of them and it looked really skinny so i took out the rubber bands and am gonna re-section it tomorrow 1'' by 1'' instead. then they should look more like dreads and less like serial killer weird stringy white guy hair
Ahhhh.... rubber bands... noooooo! Hop over here http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/forumdisplay.php?f=209 To that side of the forum Remember too... your dreads will thicken up over time, and some will, uncontrollably combine (congo) together
i would recommend 1 inch-ish sections. i have about 1 inch sections, and i've got a fuckton of dreads. some are split into smaller than that, but yeah. they get really thin at first, and then they start to shrink and get a lot thicker. some of mine are about 1/2 inch segments, and they are itsy bitsy, but i love 'em!
thats a ton of dreads! i only have 30 something, but theyre pretty fat. you can always congo (combine) dreads in the future to make them fatter and fewer.
