before you start noticing significant things happening when going the all natural way? also, on the days your not washing your hair, should you avoid wetting it when possibel?
i think if your swimming in the ocean the salt water helps em =) I wouldnt get em wet everyday cuz when they are locked it takes longer to dry and it would suck to getmildwey dreads
it varies with diff. people. i saw the first nappy knotty section after the first week, but some people dont see anything for months... how long have u been goin natural? and i wash my hair about everyday so all people who say u cant have dreads with shampoo...are liars...just forget that u have hair on ur head and check it in a few months.. haha really, forget u have hair then look at it one day, you will be amazed.
its ok to get them a little wet, but you dont want to wash them everyday or wash them, then go swimming, then wash them all in one day. they will be too wet for too long and thats when you start to grow mildew which would not be good at all. But lets say you wash your hair oneday, and then the next day it rains and you get them wet, you will be fine. just dont let them be wet over a long period of time thats all. and i have no clue how long it takes for the natural way because i backcombed mine, but im sure it takes a couple weeks before you start to notice much. like MikeJH3 said, forget that you have hair on ur head and check it out after a month haha. peace~
in the beginning I washed every day, getting em wet will speed up the process, as will keeping em clean. but you don't want them to be constantly wet indeed of course.. I noticed some dreads quite soon, not sure when, 1, 2 months maybe? but that was only the top layer. after like 6 months I had some what 'dreads'..
My natural dreads started looking like dreads in about three or four months...But they will form...then fall out...then form back up. Natural dreading is an eternal process.
when left on it's own, my hair looked like dreads in a week. but I'm a pale-skinned phreak with nappy hair...
