How Long do seeds last?

Okay. I've checked Overgrow.com. The answer isn't there. How long do seeds last before they go bad? (Before you plant them?)

 

they are good as long as they sprout.


there is no definite time frame, but generally they last two or three years with a reasonable percentage remaining fertile.

the sooner you plant the better. although seeds should undergo a "winter." 30 days in the fridge should suffice if you want to artificially speed things along in a hot climate. of course, you don't want to plant too soon before the last frost up north, assuming you are sprouting indoors early.

a long hot spring-summer into fall growing season is essential to good bud, but winter is most important! ideally, you should wait to harvest until you have had sustained temperatures below 40 degrees F for at least eight hours, then harvest when the sun is warm. if you wait for too many nights that are too cold you could weaken the plant and it could die loosing it's potency.

but what do I know?

 

I germinate 10 year old or older seeds with almost a 100% germ rate (as long as they look viable), and fairly fresh seeds (less than 5 years old) with a hands-down 100% germ rate.
