My school has gone completely insane...yesturday in my art class we were making our folders to keep are bigger art in and had to have are name on the front in a creative way i choose to put my name inside this rad green shroom...i also had a peace sign under it....my teacher then put it kindly that i wasn't aloud to draw a peace sign because it could be seen as a gang symbol and that i would then to erase it!....of course i was furious and told her that I wasn't going to erase it...i know have to deal with the deans..and might be getting in trouble...:X If no one stands up for it....nothings going to change
your school is fuckin lame. i guess "art class" is there to TEACH you how to make THEIR art, not encourage any creative thinking. at least you didnt erase it, and still have some form of free mind left. just dont lose it.
Fucken A brotha! Fight the powers that be! hehe... what bullshit man, I'm so glad I'm done with high school.
That's why my teacher gave me my own table in Art last year... lmfao... she said I was "different"... I was supposed to do an oil pastel portrait of the person in front of us and I ended up drawing what I entitled "Evil Bozo The Clown" and got a 100...
Speaking of school, I just got my schedule todayyyy.... NOW - Orientation Workshop Guitar Biology Honors Algebra Hon.?(some weird codes I don't get next to it) World History IH TM1 Honors... PE Health Art Foundation Photography I happened to get my 7th Grade teacher's husband for World History. I almost laughed right in his face... I don't know why. I just get that impression from some people and I feel like laughing at them... same thing with my English teacher... she seemed very overly enthusiastic about handing me a paper and a few other things...
my spanish teacher is very enthusiastic as well, unfortunately i have him last period so i'm always awake at the end of the day, not the other way around
you do not have free speech in public schools, but you do have the right not to have your political views smashed. Get your parents to raise hell and than the dean will apologize to you, it is the sweetest feeling on earth.
school is a fucking joke i only have one more year and then im gone good for you for leaving that peace sign dont put up with their shit art is art you cant tell someone what to do you cant tell someone what to create stand your ground dont give in to them rock on peace
I wasn't there I can't possibly say, but, she was just doing her job! Maybe she didn't want you to erase the peace sign, but their might be laws lol! You'll find this stupid, but if it hadn't been the peace sign, but the nazi sign (croix gammŽ in french- no idea in english! :&) and the guy who'd drawn had pulled up the same "let me do what i want! respect my beliefs!" stuff! he would have ended up the same way as you. sounds funny when i read it. anyways, you should all come in my school a guy once drawn the liberty statue falling, and dead people at the feet of the statue and the teacher merely said "oh, the blood should go this way, not that way!" so it's cool! we can do anything, unless it's rascist, or pornographic! kissouille moony

actually, I believe the nazi symbol is either a symbol from hinduism or hari kristna turned backwards.
The croix gammŽ dates before nazism, and I sincerely don't know anything about it's origins but as it was just an example as long as people got my point.
hari kristna huh, lol... knowing me, i probably would have erased it to avoid confrontation and 'keep the peace', kind of ironic...
Swastika (aka Nazi sign) is I believe Hindu in origin, some sort of good luck charm. Slightly ironic really. Some kid in my German class drew one on his book. The teacher flipped and he erased it. Nothing political there, he was just dumb. Totally agree Or else just let it go, you've made your stand. Pick battles wisely.
