I honestly don't have a problem being called "lesbian" or "lez". In fact, I actually like it! Why shouldn't I? That's exactly who and what I am. I don't mind being called "sapphic", even though sapphism includes bisexual women. But I do have a problem being called "queer." Queer can also mean abnormal, strange, or odd. There's nothing queer about my lesbianism. For me, it's completely normal. In my family, there are both, heterosexual and lesbian relationships. None of them are queer. From our perspective, they're all completely normal.
I prefer to be called Kathy. Lesbian is fine, because it's true. Queer is fine by me, because it is the preferred pronunciation of 2SLGBTQIA+. The acronym is too much of a mouthful; a one-syllable word is better. I am aware of the old meaning of abnormal, strange or odd, but it doesn't, in general, apply to people. You can easily tell from the context if the intended meaning is "odd" or 2SLGBTQIA+.
