How do you support yourself? what is your main source of income? i know this thread has been done a thousand times, but ill ask again seeing how new members join and others leave. Please No "Student" remarks, I'm only asking post-highschool members. And if youre in college, how do you plan to support yourself after you graduate? Thank you for the posts, and much love and luck to you all.
Right now i'm in college, and my only source of income is my parents, but I'm planning on getting a small job soon, just for a little spending money. After I graduate college, I hopefully will become a Spanish teacher, or translator, or find a pretty good job to support myself until I do get the teaching job or translator job.
i am currently making rasta hat and hemp... the goevernment would say i am unemployed. life long dream is to be a bad ass.
I'm an office manager - which is not as fun as it sounds (rolls eyes) but it also isn't bad because I run the office all by myself (I kick my boss out when he gets on my nerves), I take my dogs to work with me, I dress in denim, and I often get to go to cool places and work - so I'm not in the office all the time. My boss is cool. The pay is REALLY low if you compare it to nationwide norms but it's REALLY high for females in this repressed area - I feel I get paid what I'm worth for the area - but my job has no benefits @ all so part of that "higher pay" goes to things like 300.00 month health insurance. Thanks for asking! Who is next? I DO have a college degree and no I don't use it.
i heard a quote once about work by hunter s thompson "i have a theory that the truth is never told from the 9-5 hours."
If you are only asking those people then this thread is in the wrong place. It should be in the whinners which was the young Hippies.
uh why? im not asking anyone young or in highschool, so if anything, shouldnt it be in the old hippies section?
i just have to remark....then i will get on with the thread. your sig??? is beautiful...you, however, are sending another message you know how I make a living? I bust my ass waiting tables and bartending while going to school full time for a major in art history.....where that takes me, i dunno. but i love my major. If I could be a career student, I totally would. Get a degree in 17th century Russian poerty or something.
being a student or a waitress shouldnt define what you do for a living what you do for a living should be your passion not occupation ...
right now i just tell other people to make coffee all day. its a good gig. before that i was a wandering minstrel also. before that i was a dishwasher and pot grower. before all that i had all types of jobs and carreers in the construction and agriculture buisnesses. before that i was a college student who wanted to be a teacher.
I have two jobs at the moment. I'm a dance instructor and a cashier at a Food Cooperative. I love both jobs, but I just graduated from college with a Bachelor's of Arts in Environmental Studies and want to go into Environmental Law soon...we shall see.
How do I make a living? Usually I don't. I often find myself scraping. Like now I've just discovered part of the car is stuffed .... it could be an expensive fix but I am going to fix it myself which makes it 75% cheaper. I need to find a new job ..... I'm doing a market research job at the moment which is very unpredictable. I had a bad weekend last weekend and ended up busking on the street ..... which brought in a good amount of money.
For the past six years I have lived as a caretaker on some property. I do work exchange for rent, and have a friend who takes care of some utilities. I get Energy Assistance from a Community Action Network. (We are getting $750.00 from them this month for propane). I also receive food assistance from the government. I also make crocheted hats, and have them on consignment in 5 stores in the nearby town.(This has been moderately successful). I have no car , and only go to town once a week. This has been working very well for me right now, I would like to move closer to the small city, but the costs are high, and our life is peaceful and easy right now, So.........................
I canvas for the western canada wilderness committee... It's a lovley job- I get to go door to door and tell people about the Boreal forest in western canada, and try to get them to support our organization... Although...I'm not overly looking forward to my shift at 4 as it's like -30 with the windchill and stuff outside. ow! so cold!
Work in nature with little pretty pretty plants for 8 hours of non-stop physical work all day. Give guitar lessons to smart kids on weekends. Make the heeeemp. (deal crack to babies too)
i for one eat food for a living, sometimes duck under roofs to shelter myself... my last job, long long ago was picking up trash at a campground and eating free food in the gas station up front...best job ever
