how do you brew your coffee?

    well, i'm interested in how all you coffee drinkers prefer your cup to be brewed? personally, i rarely drink anything other than french pressed coffee, but sometimes espresso is good.

    I drip brew my coffee through a Mellita with paper filters with water from a teapot. First I slowly pour water in until the grounds are wet and then fill the filter. I grind the beans pretty fine and use water that is almost boiling temperature. I have tried the gold filters, but I don't think they quite tast the same. I've been brewing my coffee this way for twenty years.

    If I'm in town I will certainly have myself a couple of straight shots of espresso.

    no, metal filters dont taste the same at all. paper filters trap a reasonable amount of the flavorful and aromatic oils in the coffee, dulling the flavor. a french press does the best job at leaving these oils in the brew and producing a much richer, more full bodied brew. a metal filter will be the closest thing to a french press, but only if the filter and the machine is kept clean. my parents have a VERY nice metal filter drip brewer, but they dont keep it clean and it actually tastes worse than most paper filters, in my opinion.

    the only thing supposed to be better than french pressed coffee is turkish coffee, but i've not had the pleasure of trying this method.

    drip, metal mesh, recently got a brand new coffeemaker, its a beutiful thing haha. i think i have a bit of an addictive personality tho... just started drinkin it and now i cant go without my mornin coffee fix

    We have a coffeemate coffee maker, paper filters. I think our coffee is really stale, or something else is wrong. I usually drink my coffee black, no cream or sugar, but I can't do it here at home, it tastes too bad black for me to drink. I never noticed until recently, when I've been visiting coffee shops more.

    stale coffee can taste VERY bitter, as can coffee ground finer than it should be for your method of brewing.

    further, if you buy cheap coffee like folgers, maxwell house, etc., you risk getting a nasty, cheap "filler" coffee mixed in with the good part....good coffee will be made of 100% arabica beans, whereas cheap coffee with be mixed with robusta beans....

    buy whole bean, good quality coffee and have it ground properly. invest in a grinder....if you grind it yourself each morning before brewing the beans stay good for longer....also, certain coffees just taste different. if you are drinking southeast asian coffees you're likely to get very strong, spicy, earthy flavors. if you drink latin american coffees (i like guatemalan) they're more likely to be smoother and milder....

    I boil water on the stove and add a heaping teaspoon of instant coffee grains to a cup and then I pour the boiling water in the cup. After that, I add a shot of Jack Daniels to it.

    I do the same as zillagod, minus the JD. 2-3 teaspoons of Kenco Gold (Really Rich), the shit itself. Caffeine rush in the morning, caffeine shot on a comedown!

    instant coffee is nasty, but if you like it more power to you....its cheap and easy to prepare....

    i just got a used home espresso machine, and i'm still figuring out how to make the perfect cup of espresso with it, but so far i'm pretty pleased! less of a hassle to use and clean than my coffee press, and it really kicks you in the teeth, too.

    i'm enjoying a lot of espresso lately....its great stuff....can't wait to clean up the steaming wand properly and make some soy lattes....

    Just plain black coffee.No sugar or cream. I don't really care about the flavor.

    If I'm just making one or two cups for myself, I French Press it. :d Speaking of that...I left grounds in my FP from a few days ago. I really should clean it. :p But now it's bed time...tomorow, I will! However, if I am making enough coffee for more than me--it's a drip with a Gold Cone filter.

    hah, thats the bad part about a press. it makes wonderful coffee, but its a bitch to clean it out. i hate cleaning my press.

    this morning i had a strong americano at home with a good medium-full cigar and a few puffs of some good pot for breakfast.....its a very gratifying way to start the day....

    Yeah, it's definently not as easy as taking a filter and and pitching it in the garbage...or dumping the used contents from a gold-cone into the sink. But it's worth it. :p I usually fill mine up with water right after I pour the coffee, then the grounds don't get a chance to dry into clumps and stuff. Although this time, I forgot. :p But I cleaned it now. :p

    Hot chocolate is a good alternative.

    I used to drink Folgers consistently using paper filters. Then I quit drinking coffee, except on occasion when I drink decaf. (I decided to cut out some of the caffeine from my diet.)

    I have a perkulator and a paper drip. The paper drip sits and I use the perk my great aunt left it to me it is older then sin but the coffee is beyond belief. The brand of coffe I use I can not get here in Missouri my aunt ships it to me from Oklahoma it is called Canes. Out side of coffe shop coffees it is the best around for flavor. They do not produced the different flavor coffees like other manufacturers but it is still the best I have found. I drink it with aq little sugar and a dollop of half and half
