How can Christians hold up Christ as the ONLY proven way to spirituality?

Buddha and Krishna spoke of surrendering to the divine and existing as a receptive and compassionate being, living with humility and seeking wisdom, not pleasure and worldly power, and yet most Christians I encounter through internet articles seem to completely deny this.

Why is it that you're either with Christ, or else you're a materialist? Do Christians actually believe Buddhists who meditate and live a contemplative life, refraining from killing other beings and praying daily for compassion, are in some way less pure then themselves?

It never fails to amaze when I read some Christian article about how the alternative to Christianity is hedonism and selfishness. I know the bible says this, but the bible also never mentions Buddhism, Hinduism, and other belief systems that do everything Christianity is said to do for people all over the world.

If Buddhism, Vedic beliefs, and Wicca are deceptions, and Christianity is the ONLY valid spiritual path, wouldn't Buddhists and those who belong to Vedic religions bear fruits inferior to those who practice Christianity?

Doesn't the bible even admit that the way to test someone's spirituality is to examine that person's fruits, ie., their works and their life?

If that is true, then there would have to be signs that would point to these religions as being false or else how would God expect people to discern the truth?

Why would anyone expect a Buddhist to leave his religion for Christianity, if his religion is helping him become a more spiritual person, and none of the Christians who demand he convert seem any more spiritually developed than he is?

Where is the evidence that Christians are as a whole less materialistic, more compassionate, more conscious, and more spiritual than followers of other religions?

The problem is with your definition of Spirituality, if you define it as you seem to have as anything that makes you a better person, then no, Christianity is not the only way to Spirituality.

But if Spirituality is defined as the way to grow closer to God, which would also mean becoming a better person, then one needs to have God's viewpoint on the matter.

So the question is do all roads lead to God?

The Bible says no, that only way to God is through Jesus Christ and that is why Christians hold up Christ as the ONLY proven way to spirituality.

Which leads to the question, why believe the Bible? But that is a whole other discussion.

Maybe the bible is just an illusion, like a joke. There is no full acceptance and belief in someone's own communion with god if they do not assure you of their belief in Christ. Also even for someone that sees Christ (love) as the only Son of God they will not be fully accepted by a Christian's love if they so choose practices of another spiritual path or maybe their own experience. Like there is no love really, because you can't accept other peoples faith's into your heart.

They also seem to present their religion as being the first and the oldest (which is isn't) I can't believe that they also freak out when anyone mentions that Jesus was a Jew. One fundamental Christian in my religion class on Christianity got so pissed off when the teacher pointed out the connections between Judaism and Christianity and how Christianity built on Judaism while modifying its teachings and practices. How can Christianity deny the historical and cultural
origins of their teachings and of other faiths during that time?
Just like Krishna was first a pagan and Buddha was a Hindu, all religions have to come from somewhere

There are many paths to God, and everyone has a take on it.
Don't listen to anyone who says their way is the only way, they are close minded.

So if God says there is only one way, you shouldn't listen to him. Interesting. :D

He's special, god speaks to him in tongue.

I don't think the fact that you feel one way suits you best, that that is god telling you there is one true way. If you think that, then so be it. The Jesus people take it to the next level of close mindedness beyond all other monotheistic religions by claiming there is one true way because God sent his son to Earth to tell everyone so. It seems like that idea probably came after the fact of Jesus. I can understand the Son of God, but I can not understand him saying to completely forget all other spirituality.

Regardless, there are GOOD Christians out there that do chose the one path of Christ but also incorporate other spiritual practices. Good for them!

Oh my god, I just can't fathom Jesus H. Christ as Love saying it is wrong to practice certain spirituality.:p

    Nothing at all.

    Edited to add....

    Smartass!

and apparently from my reasearch many people mean it to mean holy. I just said it because I'm not an expert on Christ and like to say it that way. It sounds cool.

    Smartass!

And you said "anyone" and would say God could be included in that.
    Since God said so? :D

I'm sorry if I like shit on your Christ or something..... I'm sorry I can't appreciate Jesus Christ because I'm not religiously educated as you and knew the H stood for Holy. I guess I"ll turn the cheek on Christ, especially if he was walking around saying "I'm the best, fuck the rest."

Jesus was a Buddha! Buddha was a Christ! They both reached Krishna Consciousness!

Too many words get used to explain things that cannot be explained in words.

Spirituality is in you, there is no reason for a Siddhartha Buddha, a Bhagavan Krishna, or a Jesus Christ. You need to become a Buddha, you need to become a Christ!

Jesus cannot help you, he can only show you the way, you have to do it, you have to find the spirit within you. You can become a Christ, it is possible, it is possible for every human to become a Christ, to become one with God. Its all within you!

You have to do the work to see it though, you have to meditate, you have to be aware, and you have to be open to the possibilities.
