I have a wide collection of shoes bought from the countries I visited... my favorite are these shoes from Morocco which is part of Moroccan fashion as well as culture. I don't know what these shoes are called, anyway... but they are really cute!
My favs were some green and white leather sandals I got in Turkey. Unfortunately I was walking in the river behind my house one day and the strap broke off when my foot slipped down the side of a rock. I watched it float down the river. It got stuck between a couple of rocks and bobbed there for a while until I could get it. Then I wore it carefully until I went back home. It was hard climbing back up the mud though (the river is in sort of a valley in the forest). I used to go barefoot but ever since I got a job and had to wear tight runners, I haven't been able to live without at least sandals. Only problem is that I like leather and suede, which isn't good in the water.
Generally, I dislike shoes. But, when I'm wearing them by force they'll be either my worn-in Birkenstocks or an old pair of flip-flops. If you catch me on a super chilly day in the winter I'll be wearing either old Chucks or slippers.. aye or Birkenstocks with socks. I'm so fashionable, heh
Right now I've got earth spirit shoes (and for all you wal-mart haters of the earth-shoe "rip-offs", both brands are made by the same company, so stick that in your pipe and smoke it). I love how they layer fabric to make a soft, cushiony sole. I found a picture online of them Again, they're suede and don't go well in the water. I took them off to soak my toes in the mucky beach sand and had a hell of a time finding them again on the sandy rocks.
Chacos. mine have no animal parts and are waterproof and last just shy of forever. I have three pairs: one bought in 98, one in 02, and one this year. eta: they are made in my home state, no Chinese imports from dodgy sources (you hear us, Crocs?) .
chacos are where it's at. no smell, perfectly adjustable, and you can pull down the toe strap so they can be worn with socks when it gets cold
my two favorite pairs of shoes are my old roxy flip flops with a black fish print on the bottom and also my black cloth mary janes with embroided roses. urban outfitters
Don't kill me, i'm a croc wearer! they're just so comfy, but i won't harp on about it. I also wear my builders boots with rainbow laces in the winter (until i get doc martens!), or my long lace up boots. i have some pumps too, but i don't wear them unless it's for school.
i wear chaco sandals or my sandals i got in mexico. but when i need my toes covered i wear my biodegradable mary janes, or moccasins
I like the old canvas vans, I have a few pairs of the slip ons, as well as the original black vans, as well as chucks, and several pairs of sandals. All my shoes are extremely comfortable.
I recently made some shoes out of this wierd cord stuff and hemp/yarn. They are not that comfy but damn they look good ha ha. They were SUPER fun to make too!
