And I had just put a down payment on a nice lil abode far far across the border. ;-)

They can always push another bill later on (post election or whatever)....since the only vetoed a bill.
It's not like they illegalized the act of drafting free people into war.

 

but atleast it's a step toward not having one right now.

This is simply a way to falsely dispell all the draft talk that is taking place at the moment. The neocons are trying to play it down like it's nothing more than a bunch of doom and gloom "conspiracy theory" nonsense. Meanwhile, the draft boards are being filled while the Bush Administration is operating an ILLEGAL backdoor draft which is in the name of something called "Stop-Loss."

This is all going to change after elections, I guarantee it.

Let's all congratulate the Congress for bringing the draft bill to the floor so that they could all vote against it in October to score points for the election.

C'mon...the democrats took the money out of welfare so the republicans could put it into war. It's not a clash, it's a process.

 

I can't believe those 2 democrats actually had the balls to vote yes, I see their support slipping come their time to re-election. But really, there will not be any draft under Bush or Kerry.

Well some of the people that would have otherwise voted for them might be a little pissed when they see they voted for a draft, especially younger people.

 

Although I disagree with you, because I think both of them will reinstate it, I can see why you would believe that. In the debates, when the draft came out bush actually came out and said "NO DRAFT UNDER ME", but Kerry never once said that he wouldn't reinstate the draft. But why the hell would you believe what any politician says anyway...

THERE WILL BE NO DRAFT. NOT AFTER ANOTHER TERRORIST ATTACK, NOT WITH BUSH, AND NOT WITH KERRY. The Pentagon is completely against a draft because we have enough volunteers. Volunteers are better because they actually want to be there.

If you look at it closely you'll see that the Democrats were trying to scare us. That bill was co-sponsored by two Democrats, and the only ones who voted for it were those same two Democrats. Right around the same time of this, the Democrats release some bullshit letter to the American people saying that Bush has a bill in the house currently trying to re-instate the draft.

The American people never look close enough into it, and they actually belive Bush wants a draft.
