I hate them, thats probably why i have a blister on each of my feet now, how long did it take you to get thick enough callouses to not mind the pavement? I have been barefooting outside in the city the last two days, i go barefoot often enough that they arent too squishy, but now they feel burnt and sore.

I haven't gotten a blister for about 20 years. And I walk around all day on hot streets in 100+ degree weather each summer. I think it only takes a couple of weeks of continuous summer barefoot walking to toughen up your feet.

Its gonna take a while, do most of your barefooting at night, on rough surfaces to toughen up your soles.

I know what you mean, i use to be able to walk though anything when i was younger but i started wearing shoes alot lately because when i ran 10miles on street i started bleeding from wear. Took around a month before i could walk without socks on tile...it hurt bad at the time...I love walking bare foot but it takes time to build up you feet.

btw i was running on a very rough road (newly paved)

It takes years to build up. but winter barefooting does matter. your feet grow stronger with training, 4 seasons a year. for the first two years i woke up in the summer mornings with sore feet almost every day because of the sum of barefooting 24/7 on aggressive surfaces, I mean scorching black hot pavements and gravel all day long ... but not so much. if you dont feel any longer comfortable in bare feet well put on something until your feet heal up.

This is good advice, Barefoot Girl....Don't hurt yourself man, get your feet tough first before you hit the hot surfaces.

I think the only way to build up tolerance to heat is to walk on hot surfaces... To build up tolerance to rough surfaces, walk on rough surfaces. The trick is, to take it slowly and listen to your body when it says "enough!". Eventually, tolerances will rise.
