Hopefully y'all just want to change the fact that women with equal qualifications only make .64 cents on the dollar of what men make. And that is in 2012.
I've been really shocked at all the stigmas behind the term "feminist" lately. I am a feminist because I realize that throughout the world, women are not treated equally to men, and I don't think it's right, and I want to empower women. I'm proud to be a woman and proud to be a feminist. I love men, too.
I know what you mean. Too many feminists have presented a very brash, cynical, anti-men image, which has tarnished feminism generally, and given men an excuse to knock feminism. But there are different kinds of feminists, and the best ones are those that campaign positively. I often make cynical remarks about men, but most of them are made tongue in cheek. And there are some good feminist websites.
My Mother was a staunch feminist.Growing up In East London, this screwed me up somewhat.I reacted quite violently against it for several years, before trying to work out for myself what I really believed.Men and Women are different, but should be treated equally.Maybe I believe in equality in differentiation. But men and women also share characteristics from each and the other's psyche, such as the male's anima and the females animus.(Is that the right way round?) In my experience women are basically better people than men. They don't generally go around starting wars and messing things up for everybody. In my right mind I think the world would be a better place if women had equal representation in politics and all levels of society.I'm no saint, however, and I recognize my own mysogyny as it operates from the imprint of my life experiences...If we're to have equality women should at least try to meet us guys a quarter of the way and have an honest dialogue...Women aren't perfect either...My own Mother was a nightmare a lot of the time, however much I loved her.She was amazing but very difficult, and this went someway to shaping my experiences with women.
I don't hate men.. They are good for doing hard work and cleaning etc etc.. but whats wrong with being a lesbian ?
It's a joke. And the pay discrepancy is still that far apart, mainly in the form of benefits because women often have multiple part time jobs as well as full time house management/ childrearing, and that keeps them out of benefits.
Hopefully you aren't a douchebag... oh wait you kind of are because you seem to think that there is something wrong with being lesbian.
I knew a girl who had less experience than me in the field I was working at the time, and they paid her more money than I was making. Just because she was pregnant with her third or fourth child and her dead beat husband was in prison.
Well, you work in a nice place then because in lots of businesses they just tell the pregnant lady to get the hell out and find a new job. Even working for the government my coworker had to pretend that she wasn't pregnant because she knew they would never give the job to her if they knew that she was.
No, it would be too late. It would be illegal to fire her for being pregnant and it is honestly almost impossible to get fired from a government job for any reason. But they would have an easy time coming up with some BS excuse of why she wasn't qualified to get the job. P.S. she was more than qualified for the job.
